Workout Accountability: Thursday

Happy Thursday!

Legs, back, and abs day went well.  I can't believe tomorrow is already the last day of week three.  I cannot wait to take measurements a week from Friday!

Food is also going really well, though tonight is weekly 'carb night' (once per week) so we're splurging on a cilantro lime quinoa recipe.  Yum.

How are you ladies doing this fine morning?

Re: Workout Accountability: Thursday

  • Morning!

Ooh Lobsters I would be so tempted to take measurements NOW!  How are you waiting?!?  The quinoa recipe sounds awesome.  I love using quinoa in place of pasta/rice.

This morning we lifted biceps/triceps and did 45 minutes of intervals on the treadmill.  We stepped up the running portion of the interval and boy was I a hot sweaty mess afterward.

I'm doing lunchtime pilates this afternoon.  Have a great day!
  • Morning!

Lobsters that meal sounds awesome! I keep saying I am going to learn to cook with quinoia but it hasn't happened yet.

yesterday was my rest day, I really needed it too-I am not starting out with a good fitness base behind me and working out now 4-5 days a week from zero has been hard on me. I know more strength will come but right now, I'm just tired a lot.
I made a great dinner last night-roasted chickpeas with lemon garlic shrimp...YUM! as an added treat FI and I went (walked) to a local gelato shop -I stuck to a small size and really enjoyed it.

Tonight is body pump..this class is brutal but I have a choice between that or spin and to be honest...my butt still hurts from tuesdays spin class so I would rather do pump.

    take care girls!

  • I made it to the gym this morning for the 6 am class! Today was my third day in a row, which was a challenge because I usuall go every other day... and I am feelin it now! I leave for a conference today and hope to go for a jog or two while I am away. Then it is back at it in the gym on Monday!!

I think I need to start taking measurements. I hate going by the scale, so I don't have one.
  • Yesterday for the most part was a rest day, but I managed to go on 3 walks (one at lunch, one for break in the afternoon and then I played disk golf after work with FI). Ended up taking over 13,000 steps, so I feel pretty good about the day. Managed to stay under my calorie goal, and even though I really really wanted to order pizza, we cooked instead for dinner.

Tonight is gym night, but FI is trying to set up a dinner with some friends, so I don't know how much time I'll actually get at the gym.

  • Morning Ladies!

I AM DONE WITH EXAMS! Can we get a F Yeah? Oh YEAH, 2 weeks down to myself! Time to focus on my fundraising for the LLS, and read books I want to read.

Yesturday before my final I went and did 40 minutes on the elliptical on the funky interval training set up. I did this on the elliptical you can run on as well so it was a pretty good workout. I did eat a small brownie with my pizza at the class but I think I am worth it so its ok.

Today is running for 30-35 minutes so 3.5-4 miles. After that I'm going to spin again tonight for 30-40 minutes with my bike on the trainer after kidlet goes to bed. I may eat anothe brownie tonight but I am not sure I like them when they are fresh and there are only 2-3 left. However I anticipate eating lots of samples tomorrow so I may just freeze them or ignore them.

Tomorrow is a rest day but I'm going to a gluten free expo with my mama so there will be lots of walking in DC. If I get out early enough I may stop and do a swim too. My bones are not happy from the stress this week so a little swim may really help that.

  • Cilantro lime quinoa?!?! Um receipe please!!!! That sounds awesome. FI and I have a nice cilantro plant going, I'm pretty much obsessed with cilantro lol.

dewingedpixie - congrats on being done with your exams! you must feel so relieved.

When I got home from work last night I couldn't take the lack of working out this week so I decided to run a quick 5k outside. I am so glad I did. It was such a great stress reliever after this awful week. It was weird though because I usually don't work out in the afternoon.

This morning I made myself get up and get to the gym. I was there for about an hour. I havent lifted in like 5 days so I knew I needed an all around upper body pick me up. I did super sets for my bis/back and super sets for my shoulders/tris. Probably didn't get in as many reps as I normally do because I don't usually work that many muscle groups on the same day but it was nice to hit all those areas. Then I did a 20 minute HIIT on the treadmill with a 5 minute cool down.

This afternoon I am going out of town for the calling hours and funeral for my great-grandfather and also my cousin's baby shower Saturday. When I say out of town it's really only a little over an hour away from where I live, but I will probably stay at my Dad's at least tonight. I am hoping I can at least get some running in over the next couple of days since I won't be near a gym and then get back into my normal routine. The real challenge over the next few days is going to be keeping my eating in check since I will be eating sporadically and not anything I am planning/cooking. I won't be able to log in tomorrow so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

  • dewingedpixie - Congrats on being through exams! I know keeping on track is alot easier when we aren't super stressed.

I think I have been doing alot better this week since starting with MyFitnessPal. I always thought I was pretty good at estimating calories, but not quite aware of how much they add up or of portion sizes. I find myself paying much more attention to everything that goes in my mouth, and forcing more time for exercise if I am over my calories.

I am still totally out of shape and with very little time to exercise, but I got some extra cario calories yesterday by mowing the lawn and have been good about making time to do 10-20 minutes of toning and hand weight exercises in my living room with my DVD each night.

  • Hi everyone.  Yesterday was a good day.  Stayed within my calories, and kept myself under control even though they had Mexican lunch brought in to work, so I was pretty pleased with myself.  Did a cardio/weights class at the gym, and then took a walk after dinner to get in my remaining steps for the day.  Weighed myself this morning (a day earlier than usual because i was feeling particularly thin, lol), and I'm down about a pound.  So, FINALLY back to where I was three weeks ago, and hopefully things will keep going in the right direction.  Reallllly want to lose 5.5 lbs before my engagement photos in two weeks.  I know it's just a mental thing and 149 looks no different than 150, but I really really want to see that 149 on the scale.   It's going to be a rough two weeks though!!
  • Hi Everyone!

So I decided it might be a bit too late to start P90X before the wedding so I'm going to do the 30 Day Shred! Has anyone done/are doing that dvd?

Yesterday was pretty good, walked 1.5m with the pup, did a ballet form DVD, great for the legs. Worked on some weights and crunches, eating was pretty good too! Over-all a pretty good day, today might be a rest day but we will see how I feel after work. I have a hard time not feeling guilty on rest days so I usually end up atleast walking with the dog.
  • Wow ladies you all are doing so well and truly inspire me to do better! Yesterday I did not work out but I think I go a ton of squats in while weeding my flower beds :) Today I did a 15 min Biggest loser power walk and level 2 of the 30day shred and man am I tired!

I am going to have FH measure me since I am going to work out 6days a week and 3 of those days will be 2 work outs. I need to lay off the sugar too ugh!! chocolate milk and honey bunches of oats for breakfast= too much sugar, salad dressing for my salad=too much sugar!! It's everywhere!

Thanks again ladies for the inspiration y'all are doing great!!!

Morning everyone! It's almost Friday! Looks like a lot of ladies have things to look forward to today and this weekend :)

Yesterday was a good day. My eating stayed on track and I got a 4.7km run in! Love days like that.

Today is a rest day, so I'll just go for a 20 or 30 minute walk with the dog and make sure to keep the eating in check.

    Have a good Thursday all!

  • Yesterday I was good about food until the evening.  I've been trying to eat healthy and last night fiance said "Let's eat cheap".  I, of course, was a dork and forgot to put out meat during the day so "cheap" ended up being fast food.  I stuck with a tendergrill from BK, which wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.  It was a little frustrating because he was like "Well, I want to support you in eating healthy", but still wanted to "Go cheap" too.

On the other end though, I got a good workout in.  Its "circuit training" kind of.  The track at my gym is 9 laps per mile and in between each lap I do either pushups or some sort of ab work - usually alternating one lap pushups, one lap ab work.  I managed 11 laps last night, which was great.  About a year ago I would do 18 laps (so 2 miles running and a crap ton of abs and pushups).  My initial pushup count was 22.  I'm working back up to 40 which is what I could do at my strongest and before my back got hurt.

Today, we ate at panera this morning and I had a power breakfast sandwich.  FI and I don't actually live together right now.  He lives at home to help his mom out, and I live about 60 miles away at school.  A few times a week we manage to see each other and spend the night, etc.  So last night he came up, and spent the night, which inevitably leads to eating out at one or both meals.  He's a good old southern boy, I'm a good old California girl and sometimes its hard to make meals that he'll eat but are healthy - like I'm game with broccoli and pork for dinner.  He'd rather have the broccoli dunked in cheese and the pork pulled or in some sort of sauce. It's been good looking at MFP and realizing that's where a lot of my calories come from, and deciding on new meals I can make.  He's also allergic to poultry (for real) and I have some issues with beef...  We're awesome, haha.

Anyhow, went to the gym to run today.  Went in with the mindset of doing 2.5 - 3 miles, ended up doing about 3.7 which was great.  Spent about an hour on the treadmill, burned a bunch of calories, feel good for doing it :)  Tomorrow morning is PT time...ack.
  • I ran into a friend from grad school today...she's getting married in a month and holy WOW did she look amazing!  I haven't seen her in a year and yeah, now I'm going to remember how awesome she looked the next time I work out - proof if she can do it, I can, too!

Going to a fundraiser tonight that will be just desserts...I made some, too.  I've been careful all day but I'm still kind of ugh over the thought of this.

Just another walk today, I am on day 2 of a 3 day clean eating "cleanse" ish so with calories down I try not to overdo the exercise.
I WILL hit 30 lbs and more of fat gone by the end of this month!
