Re: I'm Bored, so Let's Learn More about You

  • 1. Do you more enjoy weight days or cardio days?   Weight days. I have asthma, so cardio days can be hard on me.

    2. What energizes you for a really good workout session?  I can't workout without music. If my iPod dies, it's over. :-P

    3. Workout gadget or item you wish you owned?   Pool. :)

    4. Greatest athletic feat to date?  Greatest one you hope to accomplish one day?

It sounds silly, but I'll never forget the first time I was able to run an entire mile without stopping. It took me 11:17, but I did it. I was so proud of myself. I'd like to do a 5k someday. I don't expect to run the entire thing, but it would be great to try.

    5. What's one thing (or more) that you have on your bucket list?   I'd love to go on a cruise. Long-term, FI and I are hoping to move (back) to Chicago someday.

    6. What's your favorite TV show?   "Big Bang Theory", but I have a soft spot for "Golden Girls".

    7. What type of work do you do, or what do you study? (if you feel like sharing)   I'm a psychiatrist at a hospital.

    8. Where did you meet your FI or H?   We met online. :) We both play WoW, and we were both working on a dungeon (it's a team effort thing). You can talk to other players, so we were talking about cooking dinner, music we were listening to, and so on. After we finished playing, we kept chatting. Eventually, we started talking outside of the game, he Facebooked me, etc. We didn't start dating until two years later.

Partly bc I don't have a bike here, but mainly bc I'm scared as shiit to bike here - there ARE bike lanes, but cab drivers (esp) and buses tend to ignore them. I've had several friends get wiped out or crash into a cab as it darted in to pick up a fare, none badly injured, but still, not my game!</div>

<div>Yeah, biking through Philly would be a bit crazy, but there are some great trails you can hop on from the city, as well as the Bike Philly event every year, and then they close part of Boathouse row in the summer for running/blading/cycling. It's worth picking up some graduating kid's bike for dirt cheap before the summer!</div>

I could barely walk a block several months ago, and now I can walk 1.5 miles before I get tired. I have a long way to go until I'm running, but I'd love to do a 5k someday.

Anna- Okay, 11 years to prep, you got this :)  Do lots of people climb it?  I guess I don't know too much about it...

Eir - That's a long time to do long-distance, congrats on making it work!

  • I'm so late to this... Stupid first day of classes after spring break -__-

    1. Do you more enjoy weight days or cardio days?
Cardio because I LOVE Step class... then my second fave is working arms. :)maybe because arms are my insecurity so I like the feeling of them being sore. It means they are changing for the better!

    2. What energizes you for a really good workout session?
Awesome music and awesome people. Walking into my gym classes to fun music and chatting with the instructors or a couple people I've met there is great motivation to keep coming back.

    3. Workout gadget or item you wish you owned?
A HR monitor or one of those things that "dings" on the intervals you set so that my Tabata intervals are more accurate.

    4. Greatest athletic feat to date?  Greatest one you hope to accomplish one day?
Oh gosh.. Probably completing my black belt back in high school.
    Now, do a couple 5ks....
So... I'm considering doing two different 5ks!!! A couple of you KNOW I don't run. I don't do it.. but.. It's time. I want to do the Color Run and a Mud Run. One is in May and one is in June. If I can find at least one person to do it, I'm doing it.  O.o !!!!

And how about some non workout/diet questions?
    5. What's one thing (or more) that you have on your bucket list?
Visit Australia. I have a lot of long lost family there from WW2/Cold War (I'm Latvian by heritage, and during that time only the US and Au would take Latvian refugees so my family was split in half, not knowing that they would end up on different continents because they were spread out among concentration/refugee camps)

    6. What's your favorite TV show?
Oh goodness... There are too many to name.. So the top ones are
    The Office
    Bones
    Walking Dead

    7. What type of work do you do, or what do you study? (if you feel like sharing)
I'm finishing up my BS in Mathematics. I will be looking at Engineering positions with Boeing or Microsoft after I get it. ultimate goal would be Stem Cell research.

    8. Where did you meet your FI or H?
We met at a Starbucks  :) We kinda "preyed" on each other and ended up chatting for over 3 hours that night. He was the first "stranger" I have ever given my number to, and it was because he was sooo cute and awkward when asking.. it was obvious he didn't do that kinda thing often :)

  • Anna- mma champ?!!? bada**....

OMG WHY DID I NOT THINK OF A POOL?!?!!? O.o Heaven...

eiwrn- I have always wanted to do Vegas as well! My H and I have both never been so it's on our bucket list as well :)
It's hard for him to get time off with his job though :( He doesn't actually find out what hours he works until the NIGHT BEFORE.. Like... no joke. He comes home and checks his schedule for the next day then.. boo.

  • Love this thread!  I'm late too, but oh well.  I want in on the fun!

    1. Do you more enjoy weight days or cardio days?  I enjoy the days when I do a combo of both.  If I lift upper body & then take a spin class, that is the ultimate for me.

    2. What energizes you for a really good workout session?  Knowing that I'm meeting my workout partner, who has become my best friend over the last year or so.  That and knowing that on spin class days, the instructors know me by name, and expect to see my butt there!  Seriously - I missed Sunday's class and my instructor posted on my FB page that she missed me.  That's the kind of accountability I need!

    3. Workout gadget or item you wish you owned?  I want hot workout clothes.  I'm way too cheap to shop at Lululemen or Lucy but that's my dream.

    4. Greatest athletic feat to date?  Greatest one you hope to accomplish one day?  Well, I have several from my teenage athletic years, but if I'm thinking about what I'm most proud of it's that I can make it through an entire spin class, not cheat with the resistance, and keep up pace with the instructor.  In fact, last week the instructor told me & my friend that we inspire her!  It may not be an "athletic feat," but it was pretty darn awesome.  As for what I'd like to do someday, I think I'd like to get into outdoor cycling.  When I was younger, I had a bad spill on my bike and ever since I have been very unconfident on a bike.  I think that's why I like spinning so much - 'cause the bike doesn't go anywhere!  I really would like to try to conquer my fear and do more outside riding.

And how about some non workout/diet questions?

    5. What's one thing (or more) that you have on your bucket list?  Staying at one of those private "shacks" in Bora Bora that you can see the ocean through.

    6. What's your favorite TV show?  True Blood!

    7. What type of work do you do, or what do you study? (if you feel like sharing) Marketing

    8. Where did you meet your FI or H?  Through work!  We used to work in the same industry & met at an event.  He was chicken to introduce himself but I had no problem doing so!

lls - Ha!  We're doing a cruise too.  Bora Bora was a bit above our budget, but someday...

I love the books too!  I feel like some of the changes the show has made have been okay (like, for instance, not killing Lafayette since his character is so awesome!), but all in all, you're right, I would like the storylines to be more in line with the books.

firstimers - Lulu outlet?  Oh Lord have mercy you would have to take my credit card away from me!

My friend/workout partner has a lot of Lucy stuff, and she gets it on eBay!  I just upgraded from stuff from Target/Kohls to stuff like UnderArmour.  When I hit a size 10 (I just started fitting into 12s) I'll reward myself with Lucy or Lulu : )
  • edited March 2012
that's a great way to reward yourself!
I do love some Nike stuff (also an outlet here in my town so it works out) but Nike I definitely have to try on to make sure it moves right for me, whereas lulu is just a given haha
Underarmor is fantastic stuff! The military uses it for everything now so it's cheap to buy at our local NEX (a military shop kinda like a miliary Target hah).
yeah... lulu has definitely done damage to my bank account... but my lulu yoga pants were only 20 bucks!! Some deals are just okay, but when you find a deal, SCORE!

Lobsters, you are so right!  I took a ride down the shore last summer on the boardwalk, really early, and I did okay until people started walking and I had to weave.  That made me way too nervous!  I think I'm going to have to suck it up.  My ultimate dream would be to bike ride with my dog, but I think that's a little ways away : )

Firsttimers, I do love UA, but Lulu is just HOT!  $20 yoga pants is a huge score!!!  That is awesome!
