P90X Classic Vs. Lean

Hello all! I'm new to the board and have been lurking around trying to get some much needed inspiration to get started on my journey to lose weight with the P90X program, so my question is which is better to do lean or classic? I am looking to lose the pounds but mostly interested in losing the inches. Thanks for you help!

  • Honestly, the doubles program is the best. With lean I didn't feel like I was getting enough weight training in, and with classic I didn't feel like I was getting enough cardio in! Really, you can't go wrong with either one.
  • Why don't you try classic and see how you feel?  When I did it, I kinda picked and chose what worked.  I didn't bother with yoga because I already had my own practise and I liked certain videos and not others.  Basically, if you're working out hard for an hour a day, you're gonna get in better shape so it probably doesn't matter which.  

    However, as raynes will tell you, lifting heavy things is more likely to make a difference than bouncing around your living room.  
  • I finished Classic, then wait a week or two and then completed the Lean program.  Personally, I tend to build muscle quickly and felt like the Classic program bulked me up a bit more than I would have liked.  However, I did lose inches, was lean and felt great.  I personally am more into the Lean program b/c you are certainly doing muscle toning with all the Cardio exercising (Total Body Plus, Kenpo Plus, Interval X, etc.).  It's really just a personal preference.  If I were you, I'd start with the Classic, finish that (b/c it's hard enough!) and then go from there.  Good luck.  It's SOOOO worth it!
  • Thanks I think i will try out the classic I do have another questions regarding using a pullup bar or the resistant bands which is better in your opinion?
