Because I had an AW... and I was actually waiting for the predetermined thread to post it (I'm a nerd like that). So here goes:
I've been working on hotel blocks. Long story short (well- not so short), the hotel I wanted is normally $99 a night ($119 for a suite) and they offered an $89/$109 rate. Beautiful hotel and hot breakfast included! I worked there in college (threw that out there), but still no better. I wanted a less expensive option for my guests, as traveling is expensive enough, so I looked elsewhere and I received a rate of $65 and $69 from 2 decent but not great hotels with shoebox rooms.
As a last resort, I showed up at the nice hotel where I worked, ran into a woman who recognized me AND happens works in the sales office, and she negotiated a $69 standard/$89 suite rate for my guests!!! I am THRILLED!
Sorry so long, but to sum up: REALLY nice hotel for the same price as teensy crud hotel down the road! CARTWHEELS! (FI laughed at how excited I was/am about this!)
