    Dear Knotties,

I've missed you this morning.  I wanted to "check out" at work, but geeze I'm terribly busy before I take off for 2 weeks.  Oh ya, I can't wait to be on a beach in 12 days!

    Brooke,

Like Stephie said, I bought 2 packs of scoops from Wal-Mart.

    Dear Knotties
I just got an email from VS that they are making cute stuff for the MLB teams.  They have cute little shirt and panties.  I thought it was a cute idea for those of you still wanting to do b-pics if your FI is really into baseball.  I know I was looking for some Red Sox ones for the honeymoon and now they have some.  Just thought I'd share!

Try JC Penny. I found a ton of cute stuff there! I didn't even think of taking my bball shorts! Great idea.

    Tiffany,
I wouldn't even consider 3D because it adds such a cost.  We got a 52" Sharp Aquos Quattron.  My dad got the 60".  They are amazing TVs.
  • edited December 2011
Julie - Hey, that is one of the ones I am looking at!  Same size and everything.   I just found out the measurements of where we want to put it though (above the mantle) and I'm pretty sure it is going to be too wide.  =(

ETA:  Nevermind, I had the height & width dimensions flipped.  Wahoo, it will fit.  Actually, a 60" will fit.   Hmm... off to shop some more.

    Deepthi,

Sorry I didn't see your post until now!

As far as clothes, I took a lot of sundresses for the evenings and dinner. And then I took shorts for the activities. It's pretty warm and humid, so I would assume you would get pretty hot in jeans.

    Sarah,

I found some white capris last year at Target. Not sure if they have anything like that out quite yet, but it couldn't hurt to check.

    Brooke,
I saw some small metal ones at the Container Store!

Tiffany- I love our Samsung LCD flatscreen. Are the ones you looking at 1080p? It makes a huge difference over the 780.

    Dear McGowans,
I am so excited to take our engagements pictures on Thursday!! I hope they turn out good, FI doesn't take pictures very well. :)

    Dear Angela,
DH doesn't take pictures very well either - it's really hard to get him to smile without it looking fake.  It helped him that I goofed off and made jokes the whole session, so he felt comfortable.  I don't know if that's your FI's issue, but hopefully that might help.

    Angela -

Yes, definitely 1080p.    We have a 47" 1080p plasma now that I love, but DH wants bigger so I thought I might surprise him for his birthday.   We need one for his office anyway so we might as well upgrade the living room instead of buying another smaller one.

Have fun taking your E-Pics!!  I can't wait to see them. :)

    Angela,

Fi doesnt take pics well and on top of that just flat out doesnt really like to be in pics PERIOD.  No joke I have a total of 10 pics or less of us together in 5 years prior to the engagements.  Matt actually enjoyed taking our engagments because him and Mack were chatting and when it was time to take pics him and I could be goofy.  Your pics will be great, I cant wait to see them.

    Ladies,

Do you think it is weird to not have any toasts at a wedding.  My MOH is seriously having anxiety over giving a toast so I told her to not worry about it and FI doesnt want to ask his guys to so we will not have any toasts.  Do you think this will be fine?

Are you planning on giving a toast as a couple?  Either way, I don't think it would be too weird.  We went into ours assuming it would just be our toast because BIL wouldn't say for sure.

We were thinking saying something but Matt really doesnt want to (nor does he want to dance, or a few other things and a toast is not the battle I am choosing to fight) so we might or we might not.

I have definately been to weddings where too many people spoke lol, I dont think we will have that problem at all.  I am just worried that since we arent doing a garter or bouquet toss that we are really throwing most of the traditions out the door.

This is what mine was going to do but I just learned that she has been getting light-headed and shaking just thinking about reading it so I told her not to worry because I honestly dont want her stressing that much over something so insignificant.

One thing I would suggest for your group, Bobbileigh, is to not do open toasts.  You did not mention that you will be doing this but I will just forwarn you if you are thinking about opening the mic.

    Dear Amanda,

I used to have neighbors who let their kids leave their toys EVERYWHERE (including their scooter in my parking space.) I started delivering the toys to the dumpster on a nightly basis cause I got so sick of tripping over them when I came home from work after dusk. Add that to my list of why I'm not having kids.

    Angela -

Can't wait to see your engagement pics!  FI isn't a big picture taker, but he had fun during our e pics.

Bobbieleigh - FI's brother (best man) dosen't really like crowds so he didn't want to do a toast.  Another one of our groomsmen is a lawyer and loves to talk to crowds, so he'll be doing it for FI.

    Dear Bobbieleigh,
My sister and Ben's best man both wrote out their speeches and I love that they did because we kept them.  My sister was so nervous she was near tears and by the end of her beautiful speech we were both crying.  I can't imagine not having that memory.

But no one will miss any of those things if you choose not to do them.

This is exactly why I asked Stef to do it.  She is like a sister to me and knows me better than anyone and remembers when Matt and I used to chat till all hours of the night and she wanted him to go away so she could have her best friend back.  I know her speech would be great and I would be a crying mess and would cherish the memory but if it is going to cause her SO much anxiety and stress then I just feel I would be selfish if I asked her to do it anyway.  She said she still would because she wants my day to be perfect.

Both of my sisters and Dh's BM made speeches.  All 3 wrote them done and my sister's both cried through theirs but they made it through.  I couldn't really hear what they were saying because for some reason during the toast all the kids decided to dance around near David and I and giggle.  I'm glad they wrote their speeches down because my older sister took them and scanned them into the book she made us from the wedding along with our vows and what my uncle (officiant) read at the wedding.  It is nice to have the actually words to read over and over again.

    Dear FI,

I know you meant well when you offered to let me stay home and be a housewife.  I do love cooking and cleaning, but let's be real here.  You make good money...but not enough to cover all of the necessities... You know, car payments, mortgages, my shoe addictions...  I think I will take that extra salary for the shoes ;D

    Dear medical office-

It would be nice if you could return my phone call.  I've been calling since last week and you still will not call me back.  If you don't, expect a call every day until you do because I need a dang refill thanks to the stupid prescription people not wanting to do any more refills even though I have 8 months left on it.

PS This is really making me consider going somewhere else from now on, FYI.

Sorry I just got back to reply to you all. I spent the day after work shopping for some flats (since I can't wear heels) & a new blouse for our pictures. I'm super excited but completely forgot that I needed to do so much beforehand. I still need to get a little manicure somehow before then.

But thanks everyone for your responses! I'm hoping I have a sneak peek that day to AW since Chelsea is lightening quick with hers. We shall see!

Serlace: I think we'll be doing the same, we make each othe laugh a lot. I'm also considering having me & FI taking a shot or drinking a glass of wine before hand. He's much more relaxed around other people when he's a little buzzed. :)

We're also going to have either my grandmother's old patchwork quilt (she passed away a couple of years ago) or my mom's quilt with a huge heart on it & we're going to try to take some with our doggies too!! I'm sooo excited!

ETA: shortgirl: Have you asked your pharmacy to fax in a refill request to the office? That's what my doctor actually prefers.
