Getting in Shape

Workout Accountability: Friday!

TGIF!

I'm working from home today and loving it. I'm a little sore from yesterday's lift which is expected I guess since I upped reps.

Tonight I'll run.  Depending on the weather, it could be outside, but I think it might be cold/rainy.

Anyone have fun weekend plans? Friends of ours are cooking an authentic Irish dinner for St. Patty's tomorrow, so that should be fun.  I'm bringing green velvet cheesecake brownies!

Re: Workout Accountability: Friday!

  • I'm a little sore from my impromptu run yesterday, which is a bit surprising to me.  I heard a rumor that my last client of the day is sick, so if that's true, I'll be home around 5:30 which means I'll have plenty of time to do Insanity tonight before I get too lazy.

Normally Friday is an AM workout day, but we're closing on our house this morning!

Green velvet cheesecake brownies sound delicious and disgusting at the same time.  I miss brownies.

  • Good morning!

I'm on my break from state test administration. Today is our last day, thank goodness!

Last night my FFIL & FSMIL stopped by at the last minute. It was nice to see them, though, as FFIL is very ill and I feel close/connected to FSMIL moreso than FMIL. Anyway, my workout got pushed back to 8pm, but I did C25K (finished Week Four).

I have a bridal shower to attend tomorrow (I'm a BM) and then we're heading to a St. Patty's Day Party with some friends. I am looking forward to it! I'm giong to try the cupcakes that were recently on skinnytaste--Bailey's frosting! YUM!

    Happy weekend!

MEDI--isn't your race this weekend?!!? GOOD LUCK!!!Smile

My cough from a couple weeks ago?  Well I thought it was side effect of my Flonase, but apparently it wasn't.  I guess I was actually sick without feeling sick?  Because the cough went away, I started the FLonase again, and we're good to go!  So I'm feeling much better.  I hate not being able to work out .  Thanks for asking :)

  • Morning!

I am so irritated with our complex gym.  They've been screwed up since the DSL time change, so I had trouble getting in on a few mornings.  Last night, they gave us a new badge and switched companies, and now I couldn't get in at all this morning.  So today might become an unscheduled day off and I'll do weights and cardio tomorrow.

  • Happy Friday!! Sounds like you guys have fun St. Paddy's Day/Weekend activities! Jude - Green velvet cheese cake sounds delish! I'm trying to picture it, how exactly do you get green velvet?? J - Glad to hear you are feeling better too! This morning I knocked out about 60 minutes of cardio at the gym. Tomorrow FI & I are going to the parade and probably drinking a lot of beer so I hope I can force myself to get up early and get to the gym before we go downtown.

Medi - Good luck this weekend!!!!

  • Alas, I didn't have energy for a workout last night.  My stomach was still sort of "off" by the end of the day and I was a bit headachey... damn gluten.  Last night I went out and sucked it up and bought some gluten free stuff so today I'm feeling MUCH better (minus the coffee I just had ;) )

I forgot to mention that everyday this week where I hadn't "exercised" I sort of did.  We are dog sitting so I've been giving ours plus the one we are watching 20-30 min walks every morning before work so at least that's something!

Glad to hear it wasn't whooping cough! :-)

  • Haha, yes, I'm glad it wasn't whooping cough too!

lbarr, I had girl scout cookies on Sunday and I'm still gluten hungover.  Gah.  I need to start being more diligent about it.  Damn it.

  • J, I hear you.  I'm really bad about the gluten thing.  In fact, the past two months I pretty much stopped caring because to me, it was more of a PITA to try.  In the end, my stomach always wins and I have to get back to it.
  • Managed to get 30 minutes on the elliptical last night. Wanted to exercise for longer but I got asked to interview for a new position at work and the interview is today...so I had to prep for the interview last night and put my portfolio together/print resumes etc.

    Hoping it pays off!

I think for St. Patty's day we're bar hopping with some friends. Nothing too intricate.

  • Jude- those cheesecake brownie things sound good, but I bet they look "interesting"- post a pic when they're done!

J&K- congrats on the house, and I'm glad you're feeling better!

...and YES THE MARATHON IS SUNDAY omg I am freaking out!  I'm nervous & jittery.  I get pre-race nerves for every race, but usually just the morning of.  I've been anxious all week!  Thank you all for the support & encouragement.  I'll definitely let everyone know on Monday how it went :)

Have a great St Pat's weekend everyone!

  • Maribeth: You just tint your batter with some green food coloring.  So, to everyone who's curious, here's the recipe I'm following: http://debbiesweets.blogspot.com/2012/02/green-velvet-cheesecake-swirled.html

I don't have a cool shamrock cookie cutter though, so mine will just be plain squares.

lizzie: I saw that recipe and I really, really wanted to try it so let me know how they turn out! I love me some Baileys.

Medi: GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND!! Can't wait to hear how you did!

  • Medic - Good luck!  I'm sure you will do fantastic :)
  • I haven't been able to get back to the gym due to car trouble, but I did work out at home both yesterday and today for 30 minutes. It's not a lot but it's something.

  • This morning I lifted legs.  A good friend of my workout partner & friend is a competitive bodybuilder, and she is in training.  She joined us & we all worked out together.  It's always amazing for me to watch people who are SO much better than me at things like that.  Gives me ambition!!
  • I'm finally back and in the swing of things - was taking a break and was travelling for the last two weeks. This morning I did spinning, looking forward to tomorrow as well.

    Good luck medica!

  • I have been so patchy the last week with posting!

I did level one day 6 of 30DS yesterday, and it's finally getting easier.

The outsides of my knees were KILLING on Tuesday after doing it, it seems that the jumping jacks and jump rope are what put extra strain on them. I had a strict lecture with my knees, which entailed: I WILL NOT QUIT. SO YOU HAVE TO GET ON BOARD. I think they understood. I scaled it back to just doing knee highs or butt kicks in place of jumping jacks or jump rope, and no pain. So that's what I'm sticking with for now. I am totally starting to see more arm definition already, which is totally thrilling! Woot!

Anyone else who's done 30DS, which part did you find hardest? I am totally screaming everytime by the end of the side lunges with shoulder raises! OMG!

Medic - Good luck on your marathon - not that you need it, you've got skill instead!! You'll be awesome.

J&K - Congratulations on your house! That's really exciting.

Jude - I want your brownies. The picture of them is much more appetizing than what I was picturing.. Green Velvet to me sounded like the really fuzzy green mold! SO glad to see it isn't ;)

I don't have anything planned for St. Patty's Day, probably just hang out and drink a beer (and only one. maybe two.) Have a good weekend everyone!

  • Happy Friday!

I did Bikram Yoga this morning and just got home from a 30-minute full body circuit. I feel like I have a bunch of energy today so I will go for a run a little later... it's W2D3 of C25K for me. Luckily we've got the complex gym here since we've moved and I love it so much more than the one where we used to live. They even have TV's hooked up to the treadmills and elipticals!

Tomorrow's the dress fitting and I'm hoping to have it taken in just a little.... but I know now I'll need to maintain for the next month. I can't believe our wedding is around the corner! Where did the time go??

Medicapril - Best of luck to you on your marathon!!!! It's such an amazing feeling when you cross the finish line... definitely life changing. Enjoy it!!!

J&K - Congratulations on your house! That's very good news.

Jude - I love the idea for the brownies! My FH and usually cook up some corned beef and cabbage, but given how busy we've been we may just go to Whole Foods where they're adverstising corned beef sandwiches and a pint all day tomorrow.

We don't have too much planned in the way of celebrating St. Patty's - dress fitting's at noon and then I need to prepare for my dissertation defense next week.

    have a great weekend ladies!

  • Thanks guys!  I'm excited to move and not have to move again for awhile :)

lbarr, have you ever tried GlutenEase?  I just ordered a bottle to try.

  • Sarah- are you sure the knee pain isn't from the lunges? Because I have a pseudo bum knee when I do 30day shred I get sore knees from lunging. When I run longer distances it acts up as well. The arm raises are freaking killer, the second set I throw in some bicep curls just so I'm still participating. I haven't made it to level two yet but I remember that level being much much worse.
So FH asked for today off from work, and when work called to give him the day off I was given the day off as well! So we got a three day weekend, which literally never happens. So we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went for a 5 mile run. Then we went out and got food, which I was able to track. Then we got some appetizers before our movie and due to getting sick I couldn't eat too much of them. Long story short I ate some bad bad food and a shamrock shake. But FH just bought me Wii Zumba 2 and I played for about 45 minutes. That game is fun! The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be a realistic way to track it on Myfitnesspal. So hoping that all of my bad eating will be outweighed by the work I put in today. Saturday and Sunday should be run days as well, if I can manage it. Monday is weigh in day!
