First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read my forum, I cannot tell you how much it means to me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Xo
First of all, I'm so sorry for everything you've had to deal with. I couldn't imagine going through that.
For starters, I would highly suggest getting everything mentally going on in order before worrying about your diet and exercise. I know all too well that stress, etc. can impede a lot of my efforts. I'm not a doctor, but if you are having concerns about your medications and your weight gain I would contact your PCP and speak with them. I would also see if they recommend any counseling programs in your area to help you deal with everything. Once you have a start on getting that all in order I would start working on your weight loss goals.
For the weight loss.... how many calories are you eating a day? If you don't know, I (and I'm sure many others on GIS) would recommend signing up for an account with myfitnesspal.com or sparkpeople.com (they are both free). On these sites you can log what you eat and how much you exercise everyday. It is incredibly important to make sure that you are eating the appropriate amount of calories for your goals per day. Going under your calories can lead your body into "starvation mode" which can make you plateau and even gain weight. In my opinion, it is better to go slightly over than be under. Also, remember that weight loss is 70/30 diet/exercise, so eating right is the most important thing you can do to kickstart your weight loss. What is your diet like now? What about your exercise routine?
The first comment is perfect advice! I gained weight too. And like your fiance, mine said i still looked great. Im short as well (5 foot 3) so any weight gain is definitly obvious. Ive lost five pounds in a month just by being really careful with how much I eat. I found that drinking water when you feel hungry gets rid of that hunger. But if that doesnt help eat some watermelon. You still get the sweet flavor without the calories. Also, medication can make you gain a lot of weight and so can stress. I work and go to school full time so stress is always there. When I get stressed out I grab a water and take a nice walk. This seems to be helping to! Im sure everything will turn out great and you will look wonderful in your wedding dress Good luck and Congrats!
I'm really sorry for everything you've been going through recently, but I am glad you are focusing on improving yourself -- in all, it will make you feel much better.
I, like a PP, recommend signing up for an online diet journal. I personally use fitday.com. It allows you to enter a goal weight and gives you a guideline for how many calories you should be eating each day.
It sounds like it's possible your medications are playing a role in your weight gain. I recommend you talk to your doctor about this. Perhaps he/she can help you develop a healthy weight loss plan, or even change your prescription to improve your health as well.
