Getting in Shape

So, how much weight have you lost so far?

I need some encouragement and a boost to get to the gym tonight, eat well, and get back on track. So tell us all and brag a little bit. How much weight have you lost since you started your weight loss journey? You can also add inches if you know!

Re: So, how much weight have you lost so far?

  • I forgot to add my weight loss in. So far I've lost about 27 lbs from my heaviest weight. That is so crazy to see written out, as I didn't know I'd be able to do that!

  • Ive lost 34lbs but I suspect ive gained close to 10lbs of muscle because Im currently one size smaller than I used to wear at the exact same weight. Ive lost 6" from my chest, 6.25" from my waist, and 7.75" from my hips, as well as 7" from each of my thighs. Im pretty damn proud of that!
  • I lost almost 20 lbs total, before I gained it back last year.  Now I'm down 10 from my highest, and since I started tracking (about a month ago), I've lost 2" from my chest, .5" from my bra band size, and 1" from my waist.  About 5 lbs down since I started tracking my measurements.  I''m okay with the lbs not dropping at a steady pace, since the measurements are going well.  Yay!
  • So far, I've lost 10lbs. I was at my heaviest weight when I started my healthy living kick. I'm very proud of myself and was actually just talking about it early to FI about how I feel like I look a lot better in my same old shirts. I haven't checked to see if my measurements have changed, but it hasn't been long since I first measured myself.

GOOD JOB to everyone else! It looks like you're doing wonderfully!
  • I'm currently only down 15, but was down 20 at the wedding.

Nebb, those inches lost are amazing!

  • FI & I started our weight loss journey in the beginning of August.

Since then I lost 24 ibs & 3-4 inches from my waist.

FI has lost approx. 70ibs (not a 100% sure w/this number since he didn't start weighing himself until after he was on the diet for a few weeks) & he went from a 38 inch waist to a 34 inch waist. He also lost another 4 inches from his mid-section.

  • 2 weeks in, 3.5lbs down.
Of course this is a much delayed continuation of my 20lb drop last summer/fall. (5lbs gained back, thank you holidays!)

  • K, I like this whole% lost thing.  At my "lightest" thus far, it's 10.3%, as of this morning, 7.9.%, so still not bad!

My ultimate goal is 20% lost (from original) so I'm on my way!

  • I started dieting/exercising in preparation for my wedding in the middle of September and have lost 50 pounds so far. I was pretty big when I started though! I still want to lose about 15 more pounds before my wedding day in April.
  • I have been stuck at 19 lbs. loss for like feels forever, but I know I have lost inches because my new smaller pants are looser even thought my weight hasn't changed.

I need to invest in a measuring tape.   % loss is 7.6%

    I started mid November.

Nebb you are my inspiration! Way to go!!
  • Aww thanks crazywoman, thats sweet of you to say :) - if youve been stuck for a while, switch up your routine, do something different. It will help jump start your body again (even changing what you eat, eating a little more some days).

I did the math and ive lost 16%, with a goal of 29% to meet.... some day.
  • I started trying to lose weight at the end of September.  Since then, I have lost 40 lbs.  I think I may have gained some muscle, because I'm down 4-5 clothing sizes.  Some of the loss wasn't healthy (illness weight loss), but 25-30 lbs of my loss was from actually working at it.  I'm pretty proud that I was able to stick with something and see it through.

Now I'm trying to lower my body fat%, rather than lose weight per se.

  • Those percentages are amazing! And the pounds and inches lost, too! I'm really impressed at the discipline and dedication everyone has had to achieve so much progress. Way to go, ladies! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

  • i started watching what i was eating and exercising on January 4th.
    Today I am 15lbs down.
    :)
  • Codi-Bailey... I'm 72 pounds down and loving it.  I went from a size 16 to a size 8.  Anything is possible.. it just takes patience, hard work and humility.  When I'm tired and I think I just can't work out I tell myself.. "Just get up for five minutes.. and if you can't do it, at least you've gotten five minutes of exercise."  but then I realize I'm up and I stick with it.

The humility comes in when I want chocolate, sugar, chips, cookies... ice cream.. all of my weaknesses - and when I have those I just indulge and get it over with.. a little bit goes a long way.  Then I stop and get back to reality.

27 pounds is great!!!  Keep going girl!  You can do it! Laughing
  • Wow - I needed this.  I just need to loose 7 - 10 lbs. but I have been putting it off.  I work out very regularly (boot camp and long runs) and eat very well except that I have a huge wine and cheese issue.  Stupid brie and Chardonnay!  I have cut out both and just started this week - hopefully that will make the difference.  My resolve is week.  Very week.  I also cut out all sugar - but I don't eat that much anyway.  Thanks for keeping me motivated ladies!!!!

  • I have lost approx. 75 lbs over the past 2 years. I still want to lose another 20-30 lbs. before walking down the aisle, but I am trying to take it nice and slow. I use Weight Watchers Online program and LOVE it. It has recipes, food and activity tracker, message boards for inspiration and support, and a lot more features. I simply would not have been able to lose all of this weight without it!! It's taught me a whole new lifestyle and I swear by this program.

  • About 11 pounds since January.

  • I've lost 19 since I started losing for my wedding which brings me to a total of 74 pounds from my highest weight.  I'm down to 31% body fat so I've only got 11% more to lose to get where I want to be for my wedding!  I'll keep plugging along!
  • I've lost about 25 lbs so far. It's just about changing your lifestyle. My fiance and I used to eat very unhealthy- always going out to eat. Now for breakfast I eat a low calorie breakfast bar. For lunch I typically eat a Lean Cuisine and a 100 calorie pack snack. Dinner is normally whatever I cook. It is very easy to cook healthy foods. Just replace everything fattening with low-fat items. Skim milk or chicken broth instead of cream. Fat-free or cheese made with 2% milk. Lean cuts of meat. We still go out to eat multiple times a week, but I make sure to allow myself room to splurge a bit by eating healthy the rest of the day. I joined weightwatchers online and it is a very useful tool, though I never religiously tracked what I ate. I probably could lose even more weight if I exercised more. That is the one department I still need more work on.

My self-image has drastically improved. I no longer feel fat and disgusting. It's a good fealing being healthy. Good luck everyone.
  • South Beach Diet, Girls !!! I lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks! Never felt anything other than a lot of sugar craving head aches .. Resolved with Advil! I am so happy with where I am at now !!! And I swear by the lifestyle!!!
  • Teehee, I have gained seven pounds since being engaged.  Oops ;)  Good thing for the long engagement!  I'm in no way overweight, but I do need to tone up!  Get rid of that extra pudge for the big day!  I am just so busy right now I'm lucky to get my homework done.  So maybe I'll be able to start my wonderful journey over the summer =)

I keep you with me in my heart, you make it easier when life gets hard.
  • I have lost 90 lbs. in the past 5 years (holy crap - that's more than I ever dreamed!).  I went from a 39" waist to a 24" waist, 42" bust to a 38" bust, and 43" hips to 36" hips - I never really checked, but I've lost at least 3" in my arms.

I've taken up running, and I'm in my first 1/2 marathon this summer.  I know how to eat - I actually lost the last 10 lbs. by cutting salt almost completely out of my diet - and I love to get out and do things now.

Unlike most people, I really started losing weight when I left for college.  Food was no longer easy access, and to get around, we had to walk or bike.  So I took up biking.  Then I transferred schools to a place that was even more conducive to losing weight - when you don't have a fridge in your room, you have to cross campus to eat.  And I kept biking.

Then I wanted to try something new - so I met an eliptical in my college's fitness center.  We became very close friends and had play-dates at 8am when I would get off work (working the early shift made it really easy to get to the gym in the morning).

Eventually, the eliptical told me that he wasn't challenging enough anymore, and I started switching between the tread mill and the rowing machine - with the stair master at least once a week.

I rarely took the elevator in college - when you live in an old building, getting stuck is a real risk.

After the time of graduation, I could run 5 miles/hr, bike 20/hr, and swim 2/hr.  So I started hitting the streets, and I got a puppy!  He is probably the best running partner a girl could ask for.

My diet has not changed much, I just eat WAY less - I used to be able to pack in a 14" deep dish pizza in 1/2 an hour, now, I barely eat 1 or 2 pieces until I'm done.  I don't limit what I eat, I limit how much.  I use a salad plate instead of a dinner plate some days, it helps limit the compulsion to finish what's on the plate.

I'm definitely a lot happier and healthier now.  I have a 6 pack!  I NEVER thought that would be possible!
  • Since the beginning of August, I have lost 28 lbs. I was 141, now I am 113. I started at a size 9, now I am a 3. This made it really hard, because I bought my dress off the floor and it was already kinda big on me, now it swallows me. The seamstress said we have to take 10 inches or so off, but that was a few weeks ago and I've lost more weight since then. OOpS.

But...I have also been weight training and gaining muscle; I cannot account for how much lbs. I have lost completely because of the simultaneous muscle gain.

Good luck reaching your goals girls! :)<3
  • I have lost 42lbs!  I hope to lost 18 more before the wedding but am grateful for what I have lost!  Keep it up everyone!  I will think of you all as I keep on my journey!
  • I started WW back in March of 2009 at my heaviest (it will be one year on WW in 2 weeks! YIKES...that's a long time). Since then i have lost 45 lbs. I hope to lose another 15 lbs before my wedding in September. Keep up the great work ladies. You all are an inspiration.   :)

  • Back in July 2007 I was put on a medicaion that made me gain 80 lbs in only 5 months! At the time I was still in need of losing about 20 lbs! But snce my heaviest I have lost 39 lbs! *i was actually 50 lbs down but i gained some back* Now I'm on my next journey for 60 more lbs before my aug 13 2011 wedding! I'm not allowing myself to even try on dresses until i lose another 30 lbs at least.. so that's my discipline! :) I'm getting VERY antsy to try them on, so for lent I gave up dessert/sweets! I can already tell a difference and it hasn't even been a week! haha
