Does anyone have any good exercise pointers. I don't like to diet, so I need to have a really good workout to burn tons of calories. Please help!! Thanks!
Yeah, if you're not paying attention to what you're eating, exercise is probably not going to get you to a 15 lb goal in 4 months. it's said that weight loss is 80% diet and only 20% exercise.
You need to at least track your calories so you know how much you should be burning. Sparkpeople.com is free and great for that.
Yeah, without watching your food intake, 15lbs in 4 months will be difficult. Like Anna said, you should at least track calories. Try HIIT workouts or interval training- those burn a lot of calories.

I've lost 16 lbs in about 4 months. I used my fitness pal. I have the app on my phone if you dont have a smart phone, myfitnesspal.com Enter in all of your info, height, weight, goal, etc and it will tell you your goals for your diet. You can base it on how much you want to lose per week - I did 1 lb per week, but I ended up really losing about 2 lbs per week. I also accompany this with exercise 4-5 times a week. At first I was going about 3 times a week but once the weight started falling off I was really motivated to go more. I also hate diets and if I deprive myself I won't stick to it. This really helped me because I can still eat - I just need to know how much I'm eating. Good luck!
My fitness pal is what I use as well, for the same reason. I don't feel like I'm dieting because I can have the cookies, I just need to throw an extra hour of cardio in that week. It also encourages me to make healthier choices, i.e lean turkey burger instead of beef, once you start seeing the calorie differences.
I am using the dvds called Supreme 90 Days and they are amazing! I have been working out for 2 months and lost 18 lbs! The only thing in my diet that I changed was drinking soda and the results have been amazing! Best part about it is that it was only $20.00 and that is way less then I would be spending on a gym membership!
I'm not really "dieting" -- in fact I just got back from McD's -- but I've lost a good chunk of weight in a fairly short time just by being aware of what I'm eating and adding exercise. I use WebMD's Food and Fitness Planner and I love it. It not only tracks my calories and exercise, but also gives me a breakdown percentage-wise of where my calories are coming from (fat, protein, or carb) and a ton of helpful charts to show me if I've met daily goals for things like fiber, protein, sodium, etc. etc.
My advice for eating is to find healthy substitutions. Instead of a bag of chips, eat a handful of nuts. Have some fruit instead of candy. Swap out your refined breads and grains for whole wheat. Try a salad for lunch and snack on vegetables (baby carrots and cuke slices are my favorite). DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!
I think the 15 pounds is doable, you just have to honestly commit and stick to it.
go to GNC, and buy appetite suppressants and you have to diet. it doesn't have to be a big deal, switch from white rice to brown rice and white pasta to whole wheat. NO FRIED FOODS WHATSOEVER!
a simple way is to use portions if you are going to eat proccessed foods. Limit sugars, and bread. If it has a label it's probably bad for you. Try parking your car at the furthest point at a parking lot and walk in for excerise. Use the stairs instead of elevator or esculator. Try making small improvements like 10 sit-ups, push-ups, lunges before bed or every morning. STOP binge eating! Eat small healthy snacks throught the day instead of that pizza or burger you had to have because you were starving. Water only. Simple right?
Im starting INSANITY on Mar1. I actually have a "challenge group" starting that day on FB. If you are interested PM me.
About the diet... yea my dear, u have to watch your eating. A REALLY good workout might burn up to 700-100cal.. THAT IS REALLY PUSHING IT BTW and a meal at mcdonalds would consume about the same... So you have to put things in perspective.....
15 pounds in four months is definitely do-able! I lost about 8 in three months. At least you'll be able to lose 10 but you have to be very strict. This is how I did it: I cut out carbs- pasta, bread etc I ate either a grapefruit for breakfast with an energy bar ( luna bar for example) or steel cut oats with frozen fruit and flax seeds ( good fiber). Lunch was always a salad or protein and veggies. Dinner was a stirfry, salad or protein with veggies. Snacks were veggies and fruit and rice cakes. Once a week I allowed mysefl a treat like a cookie, or chocolate bar for example. I excersised at least 3-4 times a week, I bought a work out dvd and rotated between the dvd and the gym. I drank at least 5 glasses of water/day although more is better. Good luck, you can do it. Everytime I wanted to cheat, I just remembered I had a wedding dress to fit into, it was the best motivation!!

Do any of you live with (and eat with) your FI? I do and cooking/eating together is one of the things we enjoy most. I know he would never go for any major changes to our food (cutting out carbs, for instance)...and he'd be worried about me (granted, he's rail thin and probably wont ever gain much weight and I'm not really looking to loose weight). I'm mostly just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation.
Thats a very doable goal, and I won't go too much into to the diet since you said you didnt want to.
Exercise: Work up to 4 days+ per week. You siad you didn't want to diet, so you have to push it here.
Type of Exercise: Full body resistance training in circuit style, and cardio like running, biking, rower(my personal fav) Avoid the ellipticals, they don't actually burn as much calories, you do see so many people do them, because they are easy!
Ex Circuit:
Squat and overhead press with light dumbells or medicine ball-20 reps
Medicine ball scoops-20 (use a lighter weight here)
Alternating Step up on banch or smaller box/step up 1 min
Lunges and bicep curls-20 total
Plank- 30 seconds
Perform all exercises in a row, rest 30 seconds then repeat, 3 times total
Don't do easy, push yourself, you want to look and feel awesome on your big day, and hopefully continue that!
Intensity: you should be sweating, if you can hold a conversation, you are not pushing yourself hard enough. Granted if you ever feel sick, dizzy, light headed, STOP and chill for a little bit. Know your limits.
Duration of Workout: MIN of 30 minutes the more the better
Just eat ALOT of Fruits and vegetables and the only thing you should be drinking is skim milk, green tea, and water!
Hey lovely. I can hear how freaked out you are just from your writing.
First of all, yes, you can do it.
Secondly, make some easy changes. Don't change your whole life around because that's not sustainable. Do things you can stick with.
#1- Figure out where your empty calories are. They're usually found in sugar dense products (sweets, heavy carbs like bread, bagels, fries, chips, pasta) and alcohol.
See what you can do to replace those foods with healthier options (fresh fruit, smoothies made with soy milk / banana / strawberry / blueberry, sweet potatoes, gluten-free pasta, veggies and hummus dip).
#2- Plan your meals. When you have it written down that you're going to have rice chex wiith fresh blueberries, banana and soymilk on your fridge, you're a lot more likely to eat it. Try to have a big salad for lunch each day with rice cakes as your carb (put peanut butter on them if it helps). For dinner, grill vegetables in your favorite seasonings- I love garlic and pepper. Oven roast some potatoes and dig in!
#3- Plan to change your activity in small ways each week. If you don't work out at all, do NOT throw yourself into a circuit training crazy fitness regimen. Start by getting a pedometer and just see how much you usually walk each day. From that number, see if you can add 2,000 steps each day for the first week. Then add more. Then see if you can walk 1 extra mile 5x a week. Then, after a month, see if you can walk 2 extra miles. It'll be 45 minutes of your day that you will end up LOVING. Truly.
I promise you, small changes are SUSTAINABLE. THIS is something you can keep doing for 2 months and see BIG results. You can do it! And by the way, you are beautifiul and will be a beautiful bride. Don't stress about it. Sleep well, eat well, and enjoy being active. Enjoy your wedding, and let us know how you do!
Thanks everyone! ...a lot of great suggestions. I already fit into my dress, I just want to lose weight to be back to my high school weight. I don't eat red meat or drink soda, so I don't have to worry about that. I always watch what I eat. I don't binge eat or eat out of boredom. I eat whole grain pasta and bread. I am starting Insanity next week, so *fingers crossed*!!

You need to at least track your calories so you know how much you should be burning. Sparkpeople.com is free and great for that.

Do you consider monitering your sugar and salt intake a diet? If you can get past even just those, and workout, you might be okay.
