Is diet alone enough to lose 9 pounds without adding working out?

Hi :)

I walk around alot throughout the day, but I don't "work out".  I have a pretty good metabolism so I don't carry alot of extra weight but I would like to get to 120 from 129 before I shop for my wedding dress.  Do you think it's possible by diet alone?  Say 1200-1400 calories/day?

  • Yes, it is.  But you'll probably be happier with the results if you include exercise.  And lifting weights and cardio are important for so many other reasons.

  • Thanks, I'll probably include 3/week walks on my treadmill at an incline and hold 2 lb weights.  That should at least be a good start :)

  • Those last pounds are always the hardest so you might have better results with adding in some extra workouts and drinking lots of water.

  • I won't starve myself :)  I don't eat horribly, I eat healthy foods, but I eat alot.  I don't usually count calories.  I did 1400 calories yesterday and noticed it is probably 2/3 of what I usually eat if not 1/2.  I do eat alot usaully I guess!  I'll give this a try and work a little more walking into it and hopefully I'll lose these 9 pounds soon to try on that dress!

  • I think you definitely see better results with working out, even if it is only 30 minutes of speed walking 4-5 days per week.  The more, the better.  Diet alone will get you headed in the right direction, but it might be difficult to get all the way there without exercise.
