Cocktail party?

FI and I are going to a holiday cocktail party tonight.  What are some ways to not over do it?  I know the first thing I should do is to not drink a whole bunch, but do I just not eat the appitizers?  Stick to veggies?  I don't want to come off weird (this is a really good networking opportunity so I want to come off well).

  • I would stick to the light apps like veggies, perhaps have like 1 glass of champagne and drink very slowly. Most likely no one will notice if you have the same glass all night---they may even think its your third or fourth drink.

Also drink lots of water- the more water you drink the faster you will flush your system of the alcohol as well.

  • Enjoy yourself.  There really is nothing wrong with having a few things that are considered "bad" for you.  Moderation is the key.  As the pp said, don't forget to hydrate.  A lot of snack-ish and appetizer type foods are high in fat and especially salt.  Lots of water could help prevent bloating from it.
  • At my work holday party I got seltzer water and a slice of lime. People thought it was a vodka tonic. :) I stuck to the salad, fruits, veggies, and they had a grilled chicken entree.   If there is nothing really you can eat...fill up on veggies and fruit.. and have one cheat night. Like Anna said it's okay. Just don't repeat it for the rest of the holiday season!

  • Is it possible to have a healthy snack before you go so you won't overdo it when you go?
