Getting in Shape

Lazy or not...

Ok...So I have a little under a year left to go until I walk the aisle. I am in major need of any weight loss tips that anyone may have to jump start weight loss or to even lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time.. I have recently lost 25 pounds doing Quick Weight Loss, but unfortunately, got comfortable and thought I could add things back into my diet. With the weight back, it isn't easy to do it again. Any suggestions? HELP!!!Yell

Re: Lazy or not...

  • In my experience, trying to jump start weight loss doesn't really work. If you try to do that, you'll more likely lose it for a bit and then it'll come right back. It's lifestyle changes that make all the difference in the end.
  • Read the sticky at the top.  The best way to lose weight is, as heyimbren said, to make lifestyle changes.

Start tracking your food either with a free site like MyPlate or SparkPeople, or through something like WeightWatchers.  Chances are even if you think you're eating well, you're probably eating too much.  Being aware of portion sizes is key.

Then look at adding in exercise.  Depending on what you're doing now there are lots of things you can add in and try.  A lot of people enjoy the Couch to 5k program as a way to gradually ease into running.

Yo-yo dieting (losing weight and then gaining it back) is really hard on your body.  If you lose weight without strength/resistance training, you lose muscle right along with the fat, then, when you gain the weight back, you only gain fat.  Yo-yo dieting only serves to increase you body fat percentage.  If anything else, that should be enough to encourage you to do this for life.

  • Thank you for your responses. Lifestyle changes are the best way to get it done but it isn't easy!! I will keep you all posted with my progress.

    Wish me luck!!

  • Try to get your FI on board with eating better and exercising.  It helps to have someone there to tell you not to eat the cheese nachos and make you go to the gym.
