Anyone use "The New Rules of Weightlifting for Women"?

Has anyone used this book in their weight-loss adventures?  I've been doing it for several weeks and love it!!  I highly recommend it to anyone who gets bored in the gym.  I was once a self professed cardio freak who would run and run and run and never pick up weights.  Now I do a healthy balance of weight-lifting and cardio and I can really feel a difference.  I feel so much healthier!  The only thing I haven't done is follow the diet plan.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has followed this book to the T?  All the way down to the diet?  These book diets just seem a little intense for me, so I've just been eating a bit healthier.  I haven't lost much weight, but my strength has increased crazy amounts!  I was only able to use 10 lb weights at the beginning and now I can lift 25lb weights!  Pretty awesome :)

If you've used this book, tell me what you love/hate about it!!

  • Yes!  I started this book three years ago.  I followed the workouts completely, but not the diet.  I just do what works for me diet-wise.  I have now completed his other two books as well, "New Rules of Lifting" and "New Rules of LIfting for Abs".  Now I just alternate between all the workouts.  Love, love, love his weight lifting routines.  They have completely changed the shape of my body.  I'm 5'8", weigh 150, wear a 4-6, and have never looked better in a bikini. Completely due to these workouts.

I am in stage 4 now! I love it!  Even though I haven't lost pounds my clothes have gotten so much looser.  When I ordered my wedding dress I weighed 122 and took the chance of getting it a size smaller because I knew I'd lost some weight. Well after following the book I was up to 125 and freaking out because I gained weight and my dress was in... but it's too loose! amazing what a little bit of muscle can do!

I didn't follow the food plan but I did increase my calories (in a healthy way, not just dorritos and cheetos). I went from 1200 a day to close to 2000 and have never felt better!
