Workout Accountability: Wednesday

Morning Ladies!  How is everyone today?

Yesterday was yoga which went okay, but I found I'm going to have to work on getting my heart rate just a bit higher on those days.  Today is legs, back, and abs.
Friday is the end of week three, and I'm a bit disappointed I haven't lost more weight even with my rather strict diet, but they do say the main results for women don't come until the end of phase two.  So, I'll have to just continue on and see what happens.
I think I need to go for a run this week, too, just because we haven't gone for one in so long with the program, and I'm getting antsy.
Anniversary

Re: Workout Accountability: Wednesday

  • I almost did not eat enough yesturday. Exams really killed me on so many levels. Today I finish them. I'm done with my Law class, and about 80% done with the accounting one.

I swam last night a mile just to give my poor brain a break.

Today is elliptical before finishing my exam after work. And a brownie treat for completing these exams, but a very small brownie treat.

It took me awhile as well. My arms started slimming right away but my belly and legs took FOREVER! Once they did though, the changes came fast! Swap that run in on a cardio or yoga day and you wont miss a beat! Especially if you add a nice stretch too :)

  • Morning ladies!  Boy I really admire you P90Xers & Insanity-ers!  I don't think I have it in me!

This morning we lifted back, and tonight we're trying out a new spin class.  Same studio as usual, but different instructor.  Should be fun!
  • My great-grandfather unfortunately passed away yesterday morning. He was 97. My great-grandmother passed away about 2 months ago and since then he has had a very hard time. Very sad, but for the better. Because of this I have really not had an opportunity to work out, but my eating has been ok. I hope to get in a work out tomorrow morning and still try and keep my eating on track.

@lobsters - are you measuring yourself?? p90x sounds insane!

  • Yesterday was a pretty fantastic day for me!

I burned an additional 1660 calories thru exercise for the day!

I walked at work with co-workers, then I hit the gym, did 30 minutes of weightlifting, 20 minutes of stairmaster, 30 minutes of elliptical and then 20 minutes of treadmill. I walked 17,000 steps total, 10 miles!

I had such a great burn it was actually a struggle to get up to net 1200 calories for the day.

  • Turtles, thank you. I'm looking forward to 2 weeks of reading what I want not what the University wants. Mmmm science journals and froo froo books. Maybe some violin time since I wont be studying. Ahhhhhh relaxation.

  • @maribeth- so sorry to hear about your great-grandfather :( he is with his love now and that might be exactly what he needed, never-the-less, very sorry for your loss.

Yesterday was a decent day, ran one mile (the most since I played soccer in high school eeek) and walked a second mile. It started to rain towards the end of my run so I did weights inside, eating was pretty good as well.

The P90X DVD's haven't come in yet, so today might be a rest day with a walk on my lunch break if the rain clears up. Does anyone have any suggestions for inner/outer thigh workouts that you have had success with? That seems to be my biggest trouble area!!
  • Morning girls!

food was great yesterday until the after work snack...totally blew it BUT I recovered. last night I did my first spin class....boy was it brutal! the instructor said you generally burn anywhere from 500-1000 calories in a class...I totally believe her too. I am super sore today. anyone else here spin? I want to know how long you need to do the class before your butt doesn't hurt as much-I'm walking like a cowboy today for sure!

taking today off to recover from the last 2 days.
I have lost 2.5 of the 3 pounds gained from the weekend so I am happy with that-I think I was right about most of it being water weight.

Mari. I am so sorry for your loss, sending hugs your way.

  • Yesterday was good.  I ended up all stressed right before leaving for class when I realized that the avocado I had planned on using as part of my dinner wasn't ripe and I had no dinner.  Class is from 5:15-9:15, so we have a short dinner break.  I ended up eating Chinese food when I got home.  I measured out my portion though, to fit the calories I had left to eat.  I did 35 minutes on the elliptical yesterday.

I've already tracked my meals for today, so I know how much I can snack.  I'll be leaving for the gym in 15 minutes or so, when I feel less full from breakfast.  Today is another 35 minutes on the elliptical and about 30 minutes of total body lifting.  I really love lifting.

[QUOTE]Hi guys. Sorry to hear about your great-grandfather, maribeth.  That's definitely a hard thing to deal with, even if he is in a better place. Scheff:  there's a lot you can do for inner and outer thighs, but for me, honestly, running has been the best thing.  My thighs are a huge problem area for me, and they've gotten insanely muscled with this half-marathon training.  There's still some fat reduction that needs to happen, but overall I feel better about them than I have in a while.  Today I plan to run three miles on my lunch break, and maybe get in a walk with the dog this evening.  My eating feels good today, too.  I've tried to mix up my meals this week and eat different breakfasts and snacks, and that has me excited about food again.

This is my problem area too! Running has helped cut down inches for sure, and my quads and calfs are firming up quickly. I have these trouble spots on the tops of my inner/outer legs that are driving me bananas!

Since I'm semi-new to running again, maybe just giving that some time to catch up to me will help. Thanks Kwitherington!
  • Good morning ladies!

@Mari - sorry to hear about your great-grandpa. Love & prayers to you and your family.

@Kwith - glad to hear that running has improved your thighs! I am really hoping that my running will pay off in the thigh department. My calves have both shrunk 1.5 inches, and now I'm hoping that that will start happening with my thighs! I feel like they are already thick with muscle, but I would love some of the jiggly to remove itself :)

Yesterday was a good eating day! It was a rest day, but I did take the dog for a walk, and then I played soccer with my mom's first graders during gym class (in the 30 degree heat in my jeans :P didn't know we were doing gym today!) so I feel like I still got decent exercise in, especially for a rest day.

My legs are still sore from Monday's sprinting intervals. Today I'm going to run, but probably not intervals - need my leggies to be happy again :) at the same time though, I love them feeling sore.

  • I'm a runner and I lovvvveeee running in the morning just before the sun gets up and I realized I have yet to do that this spring so I'm a little dissappointed in myself...

I'm going to the FI's house tonight and I told him he has to wake me up tomorrow morning so I can go running.

  • Hi everyone.  Virtually no exercise yesterday (crazy day at work so no walk at lunch, and when I left for the evening it was raining, so no walk at night), but I stayed well under my calories.  Weights class at the gym tonight, and meals are all planned out, so should be staying within calories as well.

  • I had the intentions of doing 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning but when the machine reset after 25, I considered that a sign that I needed to go home and walk the dog. It's a pretty day here today so I'm hoping to get in a nice long walk after dinner.

Yesterday's eating was a bit of a disaster. It was the anniversary of FI's proposal so I made chocolate covered strawberries and we shared a split of champagne. That was all fine and good but when I returned home from class last night I went to town on FI's freshly baked bread.... and peanut butter.

Today things have been going better. I just need to keep up my streak!

  • Finally got my workout along the Thames in. As part of the conference they arranged a cycling tour this morning. Probably about a 3 mile loop from Westminster bridge to Blackfriars bridge. Not a huge calorie burn considering we stopped multiple times along the way for mini history lessons but it was good to get out. Tomorrow is another tough travel day as I head back to Seattle. I am hoping to get some walking in at Schipol airport during my layover.

  • Maribeth, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

Today was good!  I went to lunch with my dad (who's 70 and has had a stroke, heart attack, and now possibly thyroid cancer, my God) and we BOTH chose well - salads with lots of veggies and low-cal dressing and chicken & rice soup.  He had pudding for dessert; I had a plateful of fresh fruit and one tiny scoop of their delicious warm chocolate rocky road cake - and I kept it to maybe a tablespoon, which was HARD.

I spent the rest of the day walking around malls/shopping centers and taking a lengthy stroll with my FI after dinner (which was a turkey burger with corn and grapes).  I rewarded myself with an Abita Purple Haze, my favorite beer.  :)

  • I didn't make it to the gym today.  I lost track of time on the internet and suddenly I didn't have enough time to go to the gym and still be ready for the appointment I had.  I went into  town for dinner with a friend, we then walked a bunch, so I guess that's better than nothing.  Gym tomorrow morning, then back into town to run errands before class.
