Barre Workouts

Have any of you ladies tried the Barre workouts such as the Bar Method, Physique 57, Pure Barre or Figure 4?? Did you see results?? I am 3 months from the wedding and was going to try one of them but don't want to spend the money unless it is really going to help me be lean and chiseled.

  • i have not but I've thought about it, researched it and the reviews weren't amazing by any means.  A few of the discs apparently are really low quality to the point of distraction.

    if you're looking for something similar, I recommend the NYC ballet workout dvds.  They're amazing!   A little difficult if you're a ballet novice, but a good, strong workout.  I've loved them for years.
  • i loved the physique classes when i took them.  My freind stuck with it and her arms look amazing.  Classes like that are great for toning.. if you want to drop weight, try soul cycle a few times a week.  Both are expensive, but they do work if you stick with it.

    Also - you could take a few classes  to get the proper form and then buy the dvds. i have the first set of physique dvds and they are hard!! wish i was more disciplined so i could tell you i have had results, but i have seen results on my friend!

  • I took Figure 4 and didn't like it, but that's because I was looking for a more yoga-infused workout (I took the class at my yoga studio, Pure on the Upper West Side). If you're looking for straight up bootcamp, you'll probably like it.

    Also, I am a former ballet dancer, but I didn't find it that ballet-y (I know it's not a word!). My mom has tried Pure Barre and loves it. I've never tried it because I like to mix my cardio with yoga, but that's just a personal preference. If you're going to try one, I'd try Pure Barre.

  • I've been going to a barre themed class in my town for a few months now and I really like it. Its called barre bee fit, they only have a few locations but they have a youtube channel with free workout vidoes 

    I've noticed more tone in my arms/legs and my booty has perked up a bit too. My abs also feel stronger though they look about the same to me. I haven't noticed any increased flexability, but that could just be me.
