Has anyone actually used one? I want to try it out to get rid of jiggley arms before the day of my wedding, but I was curious to see if anyone had tried it.

Re: Shake weight?

  • The jiggle?  That's fat.  The only way to get rid of fat is through diet.  Yes, exercise will build up the muslce, but you'll never see if if there's still fat.

And, the Shake Weight (other than being stupid) will only get your so far.  The only way to build muscle is with progressive overloading (ie, constantly increasing the weight) being able to lift (or shake) a small weight a billion times only increases muscle endurance, not strength/size.

  • It seems like quite the gimmick to me... hilarious commercials though.

  • Ba ha! My grandmom, who is her 50s, bought one. I was over at there house and she said I could take it home and use it. I did it for 15 minutes straight and my arms were sore the next day. Can't say it works though; I haven't been consistant, because it's sort of funny doing it. lol
  • I think it's a great workout...for your honeymoon ;)

  • FI keeps trying to convince me he has an "all natural, organic" shake weight for me.  :P

  • ROFL you girls are hillarious!!! The shake weight was featured on the Doctors tv show the other day. They gave it fairly good reviews. Underarm flabs not only just fat but it is untoned muscle. If you get your muscles working eventually the fat will melt off, when I was kayaking it helped my arms to tone up, I need to find a way to do that during the winter so my arms will look good next june.
  • Seems like just a gimmick to me. Regular hand weights would probably be more effective, less expensive, and look far less ridiculous.
  • My FI asks me if I want to "shakeweight' hahahaha....much like the organic, all natural one mentioned earlier!
  • BethMarie, if you use the shake weight a few times a day, it will work. I used it two or three times a day for 6 weeks before my wedding and my arms have never looked better. It works! Those that say it doesn't work don't actaully use it....

  • Look, ladies.   It's a gimmick.  It *may* help you tone up your arms IF you don't have any arm flab to begin with.  You need to lose fat to really see a difference in your arms, and the shake weight just isn't going to do it.  You'll get better results from a healthy diet, regular lifting (of weights higher than 5 lbs!) and adding cardio to your regimen.

  • Thanks for all the feedback...helpful and humorous. For the record, I am dieting. I don't have that much arm fat, I'd just like to tone them up a bit before the big day. I think it's a go. I'll post some progress after a few weeks of use.
