WW and using flex and activity points

Hi Ladies- I started WW yesterday. Hoping to lose 15-20 lbs for my wedding in October 2011. I understand the flax points but what I am having a hard time understanding is how to really use the activity points. I usually earn a lot of activity points on this program but I am not sure if I should be going through all of my flex and activity points during the week. How does everyone else use their flax and activity points together?

Re: WW and using flex and activity points

  • Spelling error... Flax is flex. Stupid fake nails....
  • I think you have to experiment and see what works best for you.  I know when I'm looking for a loss, I find that if I don't use my activity points I have a harder time losing (probably my body's way of saying that I need more calories to account for my extra activity).  As far as my flex points go.... I usually use most of them in the course of a week, but it really depends on the week.  Some people are more successful losing if they use all their points and others are more successful if they don't.  That probably doesn't help much, but I really think you just have to find out what works for you.

  • WW goes back and forth on how they say you should use your activity points.  I think the way it is now is you're supposed to use all of your flex points and then start dipping into activity points (at least that's how it makes you do it if you use eTools).  Although I agree with vballgirl - it really just depends on what works for your body.
  • Like pp said, everyone is different.  I find if I really want a loss, I can't use any flex or activity points unless I'm considerably over my usual 40 activity points/week.  For example, if I go hiking for 4 or 5 hours on a Saturday and then go swimming and have something like 20 activity points for the day, then yes, I eat more that day because my body clearly needds more calories.  Other than that, I try to stick to my target each day.

  • It depends on every situation.  Since I'm training for a marathon while doing weight watchers, I can literally get back 18 points on a Saturday if I did a 14 mile run.   But if you don't do much exercise, I wouldn't worry about it too much.  It just gets confusing.
