Workout Accountability: Thursday

Good morning! It's yucky and rainy again here, hoping it clears up a bit later for my run.

I lifted last night and did the elliptical.  I increased my weights, so I stayed at the same resistance on the elliptical so I wouldn't be too sore. Tonight as I said I'll most likely be running.

And our fridge did get fixed....after we got home and had to call them. Again. We had to throw out all our dairy and chicken and some veg, but it wasn't too bad.

And in other news, FI got a job offer (he finishes law school this month) and now we have to add moving to our list of things to do this summer. I'm so excited and a little nervous.

How's everyone else feeling this morning?

Re: Workout Accountability: Thursday

  • Jude that's all awesome news (except the raining part, it's raining here too, I hate it).  I just finished my morning workout, and I'm trying to persuade myself to clean up my gear and go shower, but I'm SO.  SORE.

  • Jude-congrats on FI's job and the fixed fridge!  Where will you be moving?

No working out, but I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off - cooking and cleaning and taking care of the dog and her allergies - before company this weekend, so at least I'm on my feet after work all evening.  Healthy eating has been a great success, though!

  • Awesome news Jude!

I had a dream last night that my dress fit perfectly except it needed to be hemmed.  Now to make that a reality.  I got back late from work and there were tornado warnings so I stayed at work for a while to let that pass.  So I didn't work out.  My motivation is lacking these past couple weeks.  Today's goal is weights and cardio.

  • Great news Jude!

The weather here is awful.  It's been so cloudy and rainy for days now.  Last night I was hoping to go for a run but that didn't go as planned.  FI and I ended up bringing the dog for a walk.  It turned into me doing sprints with her because she was super hyper and wanted to RUN.  I guess I got a little bit of running in, lol!
  • Yay Jude! Congrats to your FI & glad your fridge got fixed!

FI came home last night with some good news, too. I was in my last half mile on the treadmill (I did 3 total) and he showed me the letter he received indicating hsi 10% raise! I was so happy for him! So we went out to dinner and I probably undid all the work I put in by running 3 miles, but I just wanted to celebrate for him. He works so darn hard; he really deserved the raise.

Tonight I'm doing 1.5 and probably some yoga or weights.

Still dreary here despite it being May 3. Great work everyone & enjoy your Thursday! :-)

  • Congrats Jude!  That is awesome.  And Lizzie, a 10% raise is unheard of in this economy - that is really something to be proud of!

This morning I hit the gym pretty hard.  Lifted shoulders & biceps, and did intervals on the treadmill for 30 minutes.  I was a sweaty mess when I was done.  Since my goal for the week was to add a couple of 2-a-day workouts, and I've only done that once this week, I'm going to get my butt back to the gym tonight for a spin/lifting boot camp type of class that I love.

  • Thanks, reggies. He's in the manufacturing industry, so we were worried he was going to lose his job a few years ago when they shut down some production lines at the plant. They have bounced back, though, and are showing growth and restarted some of the shut down lines. This was totally unexpected, out of left field so I was ecstatic. We count our blessings every day that we have jobs, for sure!

    And go Flyers!

  • I woke up this morning thinking it was Wednesday and now I feel like an idiot because I said to my coworkers "Man, I totally thought it was Thursday today and then realized it's Wednesday and got sad that the weekend is still so far away!" Doh.

I was at work late last night, so I only got 45 minutes of light cardio in on my bike at home. Tonight had damn well better be a gym day - I'm yearning for a great workout.

Lobsters: Heading south to Maryland! It'll be quite the adjustment, but we're both just thankful his employment search is over. I'm not even going to attempt the new job search until after the wedding.

lizzie; Congrats to your FI! That's so awesome!

yay for new jobs and raises and working out like champs!! I am grumpy today too, people are annoying me big time! hehe. I had a terrible run yesterday- ok pace but just had to cut it short- today I plan to do 6, and I'm hoping I can take some of my annoyance at dumbies out on the pavement! The weather isn't very nice either, but I'm NOT going to let that stop me! I need some fresh air and a good self inflicted ass kicking!
  • Jude, one of my really good friends lives in Maryland and she absolutely loves it there (she relocated from NY a few years ago).  Where in Maryland are you guys headed?

  • I had a good 45 minute workout on the elliptical this morning on level 10...felt good! I have a softball game tonight and will probably lift weights before and do some ab work. Still sticking to my no carbs after lunch rule and so far its working great! Lost 10 pounds in two months! That was my goal, but I am thinking of losing more before my fitting in July :)

Funny how many so of us Boston girls are on this, haha!

  • Future - And Boston relo's!  I used to live there and am trying to get FI to agree to move back there with me before we have kids. :)

  • Happy Thursday!!

I'm so excited for the weekend. The weather here has been great and I'm hoping to do some outdoor running along the wetlands Sunday.

Today was a great workout! It was also measurement day... though the inches went down on the upper body and lower body, I gained an inch in the mid-section and 1% body fat. Boo. That is sooooo post-wedding parties, mini-honeymoon and cake, cake, cake. So my trainer put me through the following:

    1 mile run
    "Figure 8" - 8 rounds with 8 reps of:
    1. Squats with body bar (weighing 30 pounds)
    2. Box jumps
    3. Burpee using 8lb dumb bells with reverse row (plank position) then moving into standing shoulder press.... that....was.... tough... but... great.
Finished with a 15-minute stint on the row machine.

I never came home from a workout so hungry!!! I ran to the fridge and whipped up a chicken wrap with a whole wheat wrap, diced roasted chicken breast (no skin), a little basil pesto, bell peppers and a teeny bit of parm, and a side of apple slices. Sweet sweet satisfaction.

Thurs night i went to zumba toning, it was super crowded which is sooo annoying but i never let it stop me!
