Crunch time for weight loss!

Hello there!

I bought my wedding dress last week. Yes, it fits. But I think it would look better if I lost 20 lbs or so. I am a size 12 and would like to be a size 8 at least. When I found out my FI had the ring I started losing weight like crazy but I would never eat anything. I just need to get things started again. Also I have wide arms. idk, what I should do about them. Not really sure how to get rid of them. I'm not willing to join a gym. ( just in case that comes up) Help me. I wanna look my best for my husband- to - be.
Thanks.

Re: Crunch time for weight loss!

  • By wide arms do you mean you are wide in body shape over all, or you carry a lot of your fat in your arms?
I carry weight in my arms (it happens.. I have big boobs.. a lot of my fat is carried in the top of my bod so that is arms and boobs lol)

That requires overall weightloss, though. You cannot spot reduce. In fact, if you try to build muscle there without losing any fat you'll just bulk up if anything (not a lot, but you will be building muscle UNDER fat, not just burning fat).

Weight loss and management is 70/30 diet/exercise.
It's time to crack down on yourself as far as your food intake goes. lose the crappy refined stuff and open up to more healthful food items.
MFP, Sparkpeople, Livestrong, etc are all free sites with great tips AND a food log program. It can really help you out on focusing on your diet.

If you're not willing to get a gym membership, I suggest looking into things like workout DVDs, couch to 5k (online), and bodyrock.tv (a website of a bunch of free workout videos)

  • Thank you for the advice. And yes I do carry a lot more weight on my chest and arms than on any other part of my body. I try to draw attention to my waist as much as possible. I have never found a way to get rid of my chunky fat arms.
  • I can totally relate. My arms are my #1 insecurity. Unfortunately no matter what size we are, we all have those couple places we just.. are blah over :P

Have you done any food logging before?
  • I also am chunky in the arms (just a family trait) and work my arms into my cardio and weightlifting program.  I've just been able to tone them a bit more and I've really platooed with the arms, so figured that's as good as that gets at with 5 weeks to go.  I am on sparkpeople and love that website.  Both my mom and I are and we check in with each other to see how we're each doing.  I think the key is getting up and moving.  Finding better eating habits and getting outside.  Plus working out with my FI has been fun.  We challenge each other and push each other a little more.  Although he has lost a lot more weight then me I'm so proud of him and it pushes me more.
    Time of our lives Anniversary
