Getting in Shape

New to the Boards

Getting married summer of 2011.  Want to look smokin' hot.  Met my fiance when we were kids, fell in love then.....now years later we're joining what should have been 25 years ago.  Needless to say I am not a young bride over forty.  It takes more to get in shape than it use to.  Started making my workout the priority.  Would love to lose 15 lbs.  Here I go....................Wish me luck.

  • Welcome and good luck!

There are many "mature" brides floating around the boards, so don't feel like you're alone!

What kind of work outs did you do in your 20's and 30's?

I am just curious to see what kind of things have worked for you in the past, particulary after having kids if you had any.

You will find that this board has a lot of advice but don't under estimate yourself.. you may know more yourself on what will work for you.. you are mainly here for the motivation/new recipe ideas/different workout ideas etc.  You probably already know the basics of diet and exercise and clean eating attitude.

You know what has worked for your body in the past.. but now that your older you will just need to work harder at it.

I hear people say all the time that its harder to lose weight when you get older.. well I am 25 and have had zero luck so far ha.

I still need to follow what I learn and what I know I should be doing such as no snacking at work.. and no whole weekend splurging.. etc.

My goal is only 10-12 lbs but since I never had to lose weight ever in my life 10-12 lbs seems so hard.

After reading everyone else's success stories and what they are eating/what they are doing has motivated me to push myself more and use those goals one at a time for now, until I can do it all..

for example I snacked at work this week.. I am still trying NOT to do that however I did push myself and worked out everyday this week so far Monday-Thurs so far. I feel so much better and more energized and fit now.

I know since I started that I am now on my way to getting there 100% and next step is to stop eating at work the junk such as danish, and eating half of my co-workers sub sandwich that she didn't want, and stuff like that.

It's one thing at a time until your ready to fully commit and be more hard core about it.. (of course the occasional treat is fine but not like me eating junk every other day)
