Best store to go to for wedding gowns?

My mother and I are going wedding dress shopping for the first time today! Where are the best places to go to? I have a budget of around a grand for the dress and just want a place with a lot of selection.

I have already done David's Bridal, Alfred Angelo & Terry Costa. I hear Whatchamacalit in Addison has wedding gowns but I've never been there.
"So what? So it's not going to be easy. It's gonna be hard.
Really hard. But I wanna do that because I want you
- all of you, you and me, every day. Forever."

Re: Best store to go to for wedding gowns?

  • Circle Park Bridal is in Addison, but their dresses are a little over 1000 unless you buy off the rack.
I went into Whatchamacalit at Preston and Belt Line, and they really do mostly prom dresses. Some of the dresses in there frightened me.
  • Did you not find any that you liked at the three stores you have been to that you could go back to take your mom to see? Those three would have good selections for your budget.

You can also find new gowns at Anonymously Yours in Dallas for less than at the stores. They sell consignment bridal gowns but they have a really nice selection of designer dresses for less than retail.
  • I got mine at Bliss Bridal in Fort Worth. They had a lot of options under $1,000!
  • I got my dress at Mii's Bridal in Dallas.  I think I spent about $750 total.

I ordered a Mori Lee dress from them for $650. I really only tried on two dresses there though, so I don't know how much else they had in my price range.

I also went to Lewisville Bridal Boutique and thought they had a large selection, but not sure of their pricing. Also Bridal Co (which was in Denton at the time) had a ton of dresses for me to try on. But I think it changed a little when they changed locations ... at least that's the impression I've gotten from more recent posters.
  • I thought Lewisville Bridal had a great selection, but I'm thinking that most of the dresses I tried on there were around or a little over $1000, rather than right at it. My budget WAS a little over though, so I'm sure they would still have lots of options for your budget. You could always call and ask.

I also loved Bliss Bridal, but they didn't have much of what I was looking for that was under my budget. (However, I was kind of picky because I had a certain look that I wanted, and it had to be lace which really cut down my options.)

FYI though, neither of these stores let you take pictures, which really irritated me (because I feel like looking at yourself in a mirror and seeing an actual picture of yourself is a completely different experience.) However, my sales lady at Lewisville took a pic for me to look at on her phone in the dress that I was torn on. She was great.

  • I know some girls have gotten their dresses at A Bridal Blossom (which is now..or is in the process of being renamed Gowns of Grace) in Dallas

  • Mockingbird Bridal, ask for Maggie (I've heard other consultants were rude, but she was outstanding).

Wow!  I only tried on two dresses and I bought a Mori Lee as well.
  • A Bridal Blossom (Gowns of Grace) is WONDERFUL and off the rack.  Most of her dresses have only been tried on a few times if ever.  Nancy keeps the inventory moving and her prices are pretty reasonable.  Plenty of selection under $1000 and Nancy's a sweetheart and lovely to work with.  :)

  • I went to Mockingbird Bridal. Lucia was my consultant and she was FABULOUS! The old ladies are kind of rude. I got an Enzoani gown so I can't speak for the price, but I never had any problems with service and then have a pretty good selection.

  • I went to Lewisville Bridal Boutique and the owners Daughter was not very nice. It is like she was rushing me, pushy, and did not take me serious (I guess its because I am 22 yrs old)?! If you do go there ask for MARLENE! Do not give that other girl your money! Oh, I forgot to mention she makes you feel very awkward when you are trying dresses on and will come in when you arent ready (this is the owners daughter). MARLENE was very helpful and respectful!!!

  • Elizabeth's bridal in hurst! They have a pretty good selection and she truly takes her time focusing on you. She does make you have an appointment but her prices are the best. Even if you find a dress you love and it's not the price you were hoping, give her a call and see if she can get it cheaper. Unfortunately I didn't get my dress from her bec I didn't know she was around but I did order my veil, bridesmaid dresses and my mom ordered hers here too. I couldn't say enough about her. I got my dress at brides & beaux in colleyville and the owner is the only one I can say something nice about. Her staff was rude and her prices were higher than others.
