Diamond Oaks Country Club

I tried searching for previous post but couldn't find any so please let be know if there are some! I don't want to be flamed! :)

I am going out to visit the Diamond Oaks Country Club tomorrow and I was very excited to find out that their food and beverage minimum for a Saturday in their Winchester room is only $1500! the pictures on their website are awesome but we all know they can be very misleading. Has anyone been to a wedding here or has someone been married here?

thanks again guys!

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding there... and it was actually my 2nd choice for my own wedding.  The wedding there was very nice and it is a good deal.

The reason we didn't pick Diamond Oaks is because of the highway that it's on... My FI was very weird about the "scenery" around it and the amount of traffic that is always on 820.

I ended up going with Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, which ended up being a little cheaper, and much more renovated (and newer).   If you're going to be over in that area, I would recommend looking there too.

    Hope that helps!

Well the $1500 is for the Winchseter room not their grand ballroom. The minimum for that room is $4500. the Winchester room is smaller. It can seat up to 120 people, but i am having a smaller wedding so number wise it suits me fine. I have an appointment there at 3 so I will let you know how nice it is!

How small is your wedding going to be?
  • edited December 2011

My entire guest list is 101. But that includes several people we are inviting but probably won't come and 21 children. My appointment went well but it left me wishing the grand ballroom was open on my date. It was beautiful!

The winchester room is nice but it looks a little outdated. The carpet is very busy. They are running a special where they provide white chair covers and sashes for free if you book by labor day. Which saves me about $325. The set up fee for the ceremony is 7.00 per person on saturday but they are going to do it at the friday rate which is $4.00 and the room rental will be $200 instead of the normal $400. Also there is a billiard room that is free to use the day of for the guys to relax befor the wedding. They block off the whole day for you and you can come and go as you please the day of. The area surrounding is very busy but the actual street its on seems pretty quiet.

All in all its nice, the food presentations look good, the grounds are beautiful they have a list of great ammenities and best of all they are in budget! Right now they are at the top of my list.

I would definitely recommend checking out Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club.... I know that Diamond Oaks can look a little out-dated.  And for your wedding size and what you're wanting... they can do it.  Plus, she will negotiate the rental fees with you.

Here's a few pics of Sky Creen Ranch:

When did you book with sky creek? I emailed them last week and they emailed over their information packet and from what I could tell there prices are a lot more expensive per person. plus they charge an attendent fee which diamond oaks doesn't. I am reading 10-15 dollars more pp plus an additional 75 dollars per attendent per station.

I'm paying $20pp for food and spending around $1500 for alcohol... she also gave us a great discount on the room rental.  What kind of food are you looking to serve?

Because I have not decided on a venue I am rather flexible on my menu. I have really gone from one end of the spectrum to the other. I know I want to serve a full meal with Hors D’oeuvres after the ceremony before the reception (while We have pictures taken) I want a bar with beer and wine only. There are members of my family who should NEVER be exposed to liquor! But other than that I am kind of open. Diamond oaks has a meal that is pasta plus a carving station for 27.75 pp. and unlimited beer and wine is only 11pp for 4 hours and no bartender fee.

I completely agree that Sky Creek is much nicer I just hate to stress myself out over going to somewhere beautiful and falling in love with it only for it to be way out of my budget.

Check out the "Little Italy" on their prices... (if you don't want a carving station)

We're serving Chicken Picatta, grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes for $20pp and the food is excellent.  We're also serving beer and wine, and it includes a champagne toast as well.

The cool thing about their beer is that they allow the guests to pick any beer that's on draft (generally 3 types) and once you hit 125 pours, that's considered a "keg".  We're allowing for 2 kegs but have the option to buy another during the reception (which will be either my dad's or my FMIL's responsibility, so we won't be bothered about it).

The wine is by the case.  The cool thing is that, like the beer, it's not set to just one or two types of wine.  We bought 2 cases of wine, which is 24 bottles... the guests choose which bottles they would like.  Also like the beer, we have the option to buy more the day of.

They also provide decorations and linens (if it's in stock), and you don't need to hire a coordinator, because the on-site one is awesome.

I would talk to Amy (the coordinator) and tell her what your budget is, see if she can work with it... I'm sure she will.

    Hope that helps!

you cant see a highway from Diamond Oaks or hear it it is nestled back in the golf course, it has a excellent view of the course. Weird...

You're right, but I said that my FI didn't like the scenery driving to the course, not what's actually there.  820 and Denton Highway aren't exactly the nicest.  That's what I said/meant.  :)

And... there is always traffic on 820... which is the highway you take to get there.
