Getting in Shape

Hi all!

I just wanted to into myself although I did not lurk first, I am active on the NEY board most of the time. Just wanted to join a group that was supportive of one another and kind of held each person accountable without being bitchy. Haha.

Anyway, I am getting married 6-24-2011. Quick backstory: Mike and I have known one another since HS (10+) years and had the same friends for the longest time. We dated other people, went to seperate colleges and both ended up in our hometown (like most of our school did). I was briefly married for 4 months (after being together 3.5 years) and we've now been officially done for a year and a half. Mentally I was done 2.5 years ago.

MIke and I ran into one another St.Patricks Day, we were talking about the crappy men I meet, he offered me his number if I wanted someone completely different. I told him in no uncertain terms to f-off. My friend tagged pics the next day and he friended me on facebook (had a different last name from HS). We went on two dates that I didn't know were dates? lol And and then he tried to kiss me and missed. We have been together ever since. We moved fast (which I got A LOT of side-eye and eyebrow raising from on the NEY board but all in good faith).

Official: 4-4.10
"lived together"- 4-8-10 (we lived a block apart and he was staying over everynight because of his loud roommates)
Officially moved in together - 4-30-10
Contracted and bought a house together 4-27-10 - 6-18-10
Engaged: 7-16-10

Ahhh. Such a short road but so much as happened in that time it feels like years. We aren't perfect and we have our moments but we always communicate and keep things in the open. We discuss EVERYTHING.

Now that we're getting married - I need to get in shape again but I am seriously lacking motivation. We both want to go to the gym (we have memberships) but I just lost my job and besides that I just don't feel like it. I'm picking up on eating a bit more but I feel like I need someone to be accountable, too. I would like to see all of of your stories and hopefully I will be inspired. :)

 I gained some weight I'd say I was like 145ish here maybe less (Vegas August 2009) <--- ignore the date






1st was NYC in June, Second is FI and I, 2 weeks ago when we got engaged.
(right around 124lbs)




The first was taken on July 2nd, the second was taken July 27 (not I will never have a flat stomach which drives me crazy!)


Taken 7-27-10 (119-120lbs)

I don't know how pictures are done on here but I want to make progress before this wedding. It's going to be summer and I want to feel good about myself. I'd say my goal is to lose about 5-6 more pounds and start going to the gym again so I can trim up my problems areas. When FI says "I love your love handles" there's a problem. lol. He didn't know it was a bad thing to say.

Anyway this was really long and I apologize just wanted to intro myself and hopefully because a part of a supportive weight loss group!

    I'm a touch confused by the pictures.... I was expecting "Here's me before when I was x weight" and "Here's me now at x+y weight, I need to lose Y"!

    It seems to be that you bounce around a bit but that generally you're fairly slender.

    My advice to you, for the trimming up of your "problem areas" (which I'm still trying to find... :P ) and to help you just feel better about your body is weight lifting.  I've gained so much confidence in myself since I started lifting, and not only because I'm creating definition.  Just the progress I've made in lifitng is doing it.  Being able to easily do things in life that might have been a struggle before it freaking awsome.

    I used to be around 150 and stayed there a long time. I never relaized how overweight I was for my height 5'2. When I started to diet in about 2003 I got down to 135 but never lower. My weight has fluctuated greatly since I divorced and stopped caring about fitting into a wedding dress. I guess for me I don't have some huge weight loss story but 5 pounds on me is definitely noticable.

    I don't want to gain anymore weight so I thought being here would encourage me to keep on track with taking care of my body. I need to defiinitely start lifting again that was what made me feel amazing, too! I need to get a flat stomach and I'd love for my thighs to be thinner. I don't know I'm OCD so what do you expect. You made me wanna go lift today actually! I think I will :)
