King Food

During your whole weight loss journey was there ONE food that you couldn't give up ( that wasn't that healthy)? A food that you couldn't give it up to the point that you would continue to eat it and then have to compensate by eating less of another food later on during the day. I couldn't figure out a better name for it so I named it "King Food". For me my King Food is French Fries! I could eat french fries every day! I've had to forgo my "snacks" because I ate french fries with my lunch sometimes...and it was worth it...lol....

What is your (not so healthy) "King Food"?

(Disclaimer: I think that by sharing some of our obstacles during this journey it inspires us all the more so when we do reach our goals! It shows that we don't let things like "king foods" or other obstacles keep us from finally reaching our goals)

Re: King Food

  • Dessert/homemade baked goods are mine. I could never cut these out completely or I'd go crazy. I just try to use moderation, and compensate with the rest of my daily calories. You have to enjoy your lifestyle in order for it to stick!

First off, i love the term "king foods" hahaha hilarious!

I have toooons of king foods.  My family and friends always ask how the hell I eat so clean and healthy because they know what I am capable of! I am short and petite and I can literally out-eat a growing teenage boy!  hahaha which is probably why I have to resrtict myself :) Anyway, I allow myself to be more flexible 1-2 days a week, usually the weekend.  During the week I am extremely strict and just eat what I am suppose to.  Butttt my king foods (see how it is plural haha) are:

    pizza
pulled-pork sandwiches (uhhh that sounds soo good right now...maybe I will have that on the weekend lol)
    tacos
    ice cream
cookies (or just the cookie dough!)
    cake

Honestly, my list could probably go on and on.  I allow myself anything I am craving just so the crave goes away & I know that I won't have a problem getting back on track.  For example, my competition coach told me I can't lose anymore weight & that I need to maintain until after christmas, so basically that means I need to eat more.  So I allowed myself to be muuuch more flexible this weekend:

Friday Dinner & Dessert: Lou Malnati's salad & a personal deep-dish pizza & Ben & Jerry's low fat chocolate fudge brownie

Saturday Dinner: Tacos made with ground turkey & used corn tortillas with no sour cream (& gooooodness I looove sour cream!) and I had some chocolate chip cookies

Sunday: (PhillyBride you will love this)  I am the opposite of you when it comes to fries, but I had such a craving for Portillo's cheese fries, so as a snack I got them on Sunday.

I still follow my other 5 meals throughout the day, but allow myself to be much more flexible & plus, my stomach shrinks so much that I can't even eat much of those foods anyway!

Ok....so this is a really long answer to a really easy/short question! hahaha, but I loooove food way too much!

  • So far, the only thing I haven't said "no" to is pizza (last night...ugh!) in 6 weeks. So I suppose that is my "king" food! I think I have an overwhelming amount of self-control right now...for some crazy reason and it is really helping!

The only time I really have a difficulty eating healthy is when I'm away from the house (other than at work) and don't have back-up food with me. This mostly happens on the weekends as I am doing errands and seeing family/friends that live outside of town.

  • My King Food is pretty much anything with carbs hahaha.  I love pasta and also starchy junk food.  I know it's bad but sometimes I'll just eat popcorn or popchips or something for dinner because I love munching on them so much.  Sometimes I can replace the junk food munching with veggie munching, but veggies don't always do the trick.  It least I've found moderately healthy junk food to munch on (if that's not an oxymoron).
