Getting the keys to our duplex today! But before we can really move, we have to go to College Station for my cousin's graduation. Looks like I'll be reliving my glory days and forcing H to join in. Going to be a crazy day!

Gonna go pick up my keys and start setting up my classroom today.  Or at least get the keys.  I've heard the A/C is still off.

Oh, and I'm going to coach the rowing team.  Eeeee!

My AW is I got to hang my diplomas in their new frames in my office this morning.  Kind of a nice feeling....they cost way more than the paper they are typed on.

Ooh, Carrie, that sounds like fun! I have to admit (shamefully) that I haven't been back to CS since I graduated. I know, I'm a terrible Aggie.

Amanda - Rowing sounds awesome! Do you have any background in it, or did you just volunteer and get picked for it?

We went to this amazing little italian place for dinner last night in hopes that it could be our RD venue. It was soo delicious but sooo tiny. You could seriously only fit maybe 15-18 people in there. RD FAIL. I don't really have an AW but, my shower is this weekend so does that count? It's a brunch shower on Sunday. I'm pretty pumped about it.

Erica - what restaurant?

I rowed in college until I transferred to Baylor.  The team there was really ill-run and apparently the coach was a giant sexist (which I didn't learn until after I quit, but sort of validated my decision).  I had it on my resume and application, but the principals acted like they had no idea when I mentioned it last week at inservice.  The current coach is working on adopting a baby, so he needs all the help he can get.  I'm going to have to make sure they give me a coaching period, though.

Amanda - Rowing sounds awesome! You will be happy to know that a portion of all money made from events at the Filter Building go toward the DISD rowing program.

Erica - It's made a lot easier by the fact that the year that I graduated, I had a cousin start there, and another cousin start a few years later. She ended up even rushing the same sorority, so I help out a lot with events with other alum (sidenote: I am not so into sorority that I jump at the chance to go back at any given moment, it's more to support little cuz).
So this is one cousin's graduation. And the younger one turns 21 in October so I'm sure I'll go down for that. Once they're both gone I don't see why I would go back, except now H and I have a rival game, I suppose we'll be going back and forth between Fayetteville and College Station every year.

Amanda - it's this place in Fort Worth (Southside aka The Fairmont District - same area that we're getting married in) called Nonna Tota. It is legit italian. Not the best service but it's BYOB/W and to me it's worth it. FI and my mom didn't love it as much as I did though.

Carrie - That's cool that you still stay involved for them. I have a friend who is graduating this December so I am DETERMINED to go to at least one football this year while visiting her.

Before Arkansas and A&M were playing each other regularly, I took H to a football game and we sat in the student section. He was so overwhelmed and confused the entire time. He couldn't understand A) Why we had to stand the entire time and B)How everyone knew all the yells and the fact that I still remembered them.
He still talks about it, especially when he tried explaining to his friends before the first A&M Arkansas game.

Hahah...that is awesome. I still remember when I took FI to Midnight Yell once during my senior year. He seriously looked like a lost little puppy dog. It was sad. Needless to say, I never took him to one again. I have a feeling that his experience was similar to your H's. We did go to a game together once, too, but we sat in the parent section since we were with my mom.

I am Debbie Downer because I have nothing to AW.  In reality, H is pissed at me and I have absolutely NO idea why.  Is my H the only guy who does not want to ever talk about it in the moment when he's upset?  Usually he'll tell me about it later on down the road, but I'm so not that patient, lol.

Do y'all ever poke around on the international boards? I used to love them, but they are becoming MEAN. Not even toward me, I haven't been attacked once. I kind of stopped posting as much because I was so disgusted.
I LOVE our local board, but meanies are making me sad.

I've been traveling for work and was on vacation, so I spent this morning getting caught up on all the posts from the last week and a half.  

Now, I am starving and craving Chick-fil-A after reading through a thread regarding CFA.

Carrie, I totally get what you mean.  I will occasionally post on E, but really I just dislike how a lot of the girls can be so nasty.  And then the mob mentality kicks in and suddenly everyone is ganging up on someone.  Also, I can't keep up with most of those threads!</div>

I know! When I was brand new I asked a question on E about waiting to send all TY cards until we moved into our new place (which is this week) so that everyone would have our new address on the return label and I got ripped!
I just genuinely didn't know, but once I gave a gracious 'thanks for the advice' everyone laid off. I'm so nonconfrontational it hurts sometimes.

OH that's what I'm talking about. I've been watching the whole thing and pretty much everyone is to blame (except for me, obv). EVERYONE is just being so mean.

And RE TY notes, I've only got a couple left, which I fully intend on finishing during my cousin's graduation tomorrow. FTW.
Of course that's probably another ettiquette problem all in itself.

ETA: They were referring more to my May and June shower TY cards,  and not wedding TY cards.
Which if I had waited I could have consolidated, and instead I am sending multiple people multiple cards.

That's why I decided to get her booked early.

I hardly ever post on any other boards especially E board. I am confrontational and it would just end up me lashing back. So I just won't even do it. To save the drama.

Ah, yeah.  My biggest regret was not sending out shower TYs right after the shower, because having ALL those notes to write at once was a huge pain, but I just LOVED my TY cards and they went along with our periodic table stuff and I didn't want anyone to see them until after the wedding.

We had a similar situation! When we orderd our STD's with Vistaprint we had a Groupon that was way over what we ended up needing so I bought a bunch of TY cards and had our new last name put on them ('Love, the ____ family'). Once I was ready to write them I got so excited and then was like oh crap. So Wal Mart TY cards before the wedding, family ones after.
Girls are so funny about things. :)

Crud, now I'm getting really self conscious about my TY notes. Granted, I've always gotten them from friends several weeks to a even a couple of months after their weddings and never thought anything of it, so I might just do the same.

So I haven't been back since my desperate dog posts a few days back, but you who are FB friends with me knwo that I found my precious boy yesterday. Our neighbors had him since last Thursday and saw the flyer I posted at their vet. Apparently they called my vet twice and the vet said they had no record of him, which meant he had probably not had vaccines in 5 years (I had him vaccinated a month ago)

This sweet couple not only got him vaccinated, but sent me home with 2 bags of dog food, a new toy, Frosty Paws and my sweet guy. I am so so grateful that there are people like them in this world

I was just thinking about you today. I'm so glad your dog is back home and you had such great neighbors to take such good care of him. It's got to be a huge relief he was found safe and sound.
Speaking of dogs mine was mad at me for getting home from work an hour late. She really ripped me a good one and proceeded to jump up and try to bite me in the butt several times. Man oh man... She's worse than my kids.
