Getting in Shape

losing 20 lbs in 3 months

Hi everyone,

i have a goal to lose another 20 lbs in the next 3 months. i have 98 days til my wedding and so far im down a total of 15 lbs since january 2nd, its been slow going and i seem to have stalled a little and started to fluctuate up and down by a pound or 2. So i am challenging myself to stop giving in to the temptations of bad food for the next 90 days. i know i wont be perfect with it but i know i can do atleast a 90/10 with my eating habits. Anyway enough rambling if anyone has any helpful tips on a good solid eating/workout plan to acheive this goal, or any good healthy recipes please feel free to share. i could also use some helpful motivators if anyone feels like it LOL. i will post updates as i go along in hopes that i can keep myself motivated and on the right track. So far my biggest problem is lowering my sodium and sugar intake!

  • I've lost 20 pounds in 3 months before, however I wasn't able to keep it off because I think I lost it so fast.

But what I did was called the Paleo Diet and I only at meat fruits and veggies for 3 months.   I looked goodddd.... But it was hard to keep up for me.

  • My FI is doing the paleo diet. It is something that you really need to commit to. With that and some serious exercise, you can definitely lose 20 pounds in three months.

I am doing Weight Watchers. I tracked my food compulsively and exercised and I lost 30 pounds in three months. I have kept it off for sure but the last 6 months, I've lost only an additional 15. It's tough but you can do it!!

I totally believe in you :-)))))

  • NO more pop.. stay away from the soda.. that right there will help cut your sodium.. another thing.. park further away from the store.. do more walking.. you can do it.. i know its hard.. im tryin to lose 100 lbs in a year.. we can do this girl!!! keep your chin up!! ... breaking the bad habits Michigan
  • thanks everyone,  i have been trying to watch the sodium and sugar levels of everything and i am pretty active i think one of the reasons i stalled before was because i wasnt eating enough, i have been counting calories for a while now (my fitness pal) and that is helping track everything. its hard because i am a big sauce/dressing person i hate eating things plain so i am always dipping in something and i know that is part of what is killing my sodium/sugar levels. i have been trying to find some easy healthy recipes, but it seems to always be high in something. I have tried the dukan diet which sounds similar to the paleo diet and it was great for a few weeks but then i crashed. i want to try to work in a good balance nutrional lifestyle, so that i wont easily gain all the weight back. thanks for the motivation, so far today has been good, mostly fruits veggies, protein and whole grains.
  • Try making your own dressings and dips so you can control whats in them a lot better. I switch out sour cream with plain greek yogurt and that works for me. Good luck to you! You got this!
  • MIZZL -  Thanks that is a great tip i will give that a try!!
  • a few reminders that might help:

Make sure its a lifestyle change, and not just a 'goal'.  This change should be something you can keep for awhile and you're happy about.

Don't forget that calories are units of energy.  Make sure you're giving your body GOOD energy (which it sounds like you're doing with all the fresh ingredients and homemade recipes)

Eat only when you're hungry, and eat slowly.  dont eat in front of the tv or computer (studies show you eat more!). really just sit and enjoy tasting the food in front of you.

Pick FUN activities to get yourself moving!  Dance around the house, take a friend's dog for a run, play tennis with friends, walk around at the mall for a few hours, etc.  I use the nike training club app =)

...i agree with making your own sauces or dips (try oil and vinegar for salads)
  • awesome thanks!  I have the nike app but have not really used it much. We just put a bunch of new equipment in our basement for working out so its like a mini gym, iso this should help.
  • Down 1 pound, yay!!!! Not a big thing I know but it's better then zero! Let's see what happens next Monday!
