No motivation

HELP- I have no motivation to work out after working 9 hours each day- any advice to get me up and going? I do walk on my  lunch when it is nice out 2 miles

Re: No motivation

  • Any way you can get your workouts done in the morning?

I am NOT a morning person, so that doesn't work for me. Instead, I pack my gym bag and bring it to work with me, and then go straight to the gym from work before going home. Is this an option for you?

  • Any chance you could work out in the morning before work? I found a bootcamp that meets at 530am, so I am up and exercised before H and our son even wake up. It takes some adjustment at first, but i wouldn't have it any other way.

I personally find that i need to be in it mentally to stay with it on a regular schedule.

Do you have a partner to work out with?  Your FI?  A friend?  I've found that I'm more motivated when I have someone else counting on me to be there working out with them.

  • As PP are saying - work out in the morning before your brain realizes what you're doing! I work out exclusively in the mornings. But it didn't start out that way. Let me tell you, I am not a morning person. I would always find myself getting up late for work and rushing around, but working out after work is so hard! Like you said you're tired and I was constantely foregoing the gym to make plans with my FI and friends after work. Have to have a social life too. So I get a goal for myself, per my FIs suggestion, at least one day a week I was going to work out in the mornings and do the rest of my work outs in the afternoons. I liked it so much it turned into all my work outs being in the mornings before work. I know it seems impossible (everyone says this when I tell them I get up at 5am everyday). But all it takes is going to bed a little earlier and making sure you have something healthy and quick to grab for breakfast. Just try working out in the morning once, and see if you like it. Even if it's once a twice a week thats once or twice a week you don't have to dread working out after work. Good luck!

<div>This is so true! It's hard for me to get out of bed and I've been consistently late to my first class for like 2 weeks and I'm changing it now :)</div><div>
</div><div>You should try some basic yoga and deep breathing in the morning. Yoga helps with  stress and flexibility. It also gets the blood pumping so you are ready for your day. Then you can transition to pilates which will make you sweat but will help with the energy :)</div><div>
</div><div>Also make sure to drink plenty of water and stay away from greasy and heavy foods. Healthy snacks will keep your energy up.</div>
