AW: post-wedding motivation

I signed up for my first half-marathon yesterday! I'll be doing the Detroit/Windsor half in the fall! Excited to get serious about my training in a few weeks after the wedding/honeymoon.

Anyone else training for a half right now?

Re: AW: post-wedding motivation

  • My wedding is next year but, I'm training for a half ironman in October. I may also run a half marathon this fall but I'm not 100% dedicated to that because of my health. I will run one in the spring for time though.

[QUOTE]I am!  I'm running in one called the Slackers Half Marathon here in CO.  It's all downhill...though it starts at 10,000 feet and descends to 8,000 feet, so the elevation is going to make it pretty rough.  I'm 2.5 weeks out from it now and definitely getting a bit bored of running, but overall, it's been a great training experience.  I think I'll sign up for another one after the wedding to keep me goal oriented.  Good luck!  Do you have a training plan you're using?  I've used Hal Higdon's Novice 2 plan and have really enjoyed it.

Holy crap! I hate running downhill more than I hate running up. That would kill my knees, but it's a cool concept. I'm going to check out Hal. I haven't started a technical plan yet.. just general running/exercising.
