    Weight loss/fitness goals: would love to shed 20 pounds before the big day.  that might be a bit unrealistic.  I've already lost 30 though!

    If you lurk, how long have you: I apparently joined TK in April of 2011 but didn't realize there were message boards until maybe a month or two ago so I never really lurked. as soon as I discovered them, I started posting.

    Anything interesting about yourself: umm?  I'm not that interesting.  I'm really into gymnastics.  some people like football, I like gymnastics (like a lotttt).  I'm unfortunately not a gymnast though. I wish I wolud have stuck with it as a kid.  I can still do a mean cartwheel and a backbend though.  I'm also a vegetarian.

    I have been doing Crossfit for the past 3 months or so.  I really like, I feel stronger and more toned.  The onlything  iam not exactly estacic about is that the scale isn't changing.  I know I am gaining muscle, but I def have some LBs to get rid of!

    I wonder if anyone who reads this might have a diet plan they would like to share?

    Weight loss/fitness goals: I'm hoping to tone up and maintain my current weight, or even gain a bit of muscle as I am always hovering around underweight (according to BMI calculations). I'm also here for help with meals and nutrition, as I'm not very good about eating enough some days, and would like to get better at preparing balanced meals with enough vitamins/minerals/etc.

    If you lurk, how long have you: Haven't lurked very long on this board, but I've been lurking on other boards (Etiquette especially) for many months.

    Anything interesting about yourself: I'm from Canada but have been living in England for the past 4 years, researching medieval Scandinavian literature :)

    Any question you might have: I guess it goes back to what I mentioned above about nutrition: I don't know why I find it so difficult to eat enough and to eat healthily, but I would like to find out how best to have a balanced diet. Also, my FI is vegetarian (eats eggs/dairy/fish) so I don't eat much meat either, usually just if we eat out. So after all this rambling I guess my question is: what are some great healthy, vegetarian/fish recipes you all love? Thanks!

    Weight loss/ fitness goals: just to tone up overall and gain muscle; I'm petite but trying to get in better shape! FI got me into weight lifting a few months ago and I loved it but over the past few weeks I've lost motivation for some reason. 

    Favorite cake flavor: I don't love cake (or sweets all that much) but if I had to choose I'd pick yellow or vanilla cake with chocolate frosting

    Anything interesting about yourself: My running buddy is my puggle (pug and beagle mix) so sometimes we're slow (to take care of my cartilage-less left knee and her short snouted propensity towards getting overheated) but at least we get outside!

    Anything interesting about yourself: Fiance and I started dating when he was 15 and I was 16. Now we're getting married 7 years later :)

    Any question you might have: interested in this clean eating business. I'm a "foodie" and love to cook, not only for myself but others as well. I would love to be able to pass on healthy habits to my fiance and father (especially for my dad- I do all the cooking not my mom. so he will have to do it when I move out in a month!)

    Weight loss/fitness goals: Want to lose 15-20 lb (get back from 150 to 135 or 130)...I like krusk911's definition of this as "happy weight".  For me it was not only a new relationship (with a guy who eats a batch of homemade cookies a week!), but also post-college, new grad student weight.  Welcome to a whole new stress regime!

    Anything interesting about yourself: I am an avid baker and runner (marathon distance).  It is truly a shame that the former is not completely negated by the latter, particularly in the case of a metabolism as sluggish as mine :D

Any question you might have: Is it better to workout a couple days in a row or every other day... right now I'm a stay at home mom while job hunting and the gym is 50 feet from my step at the apartment complex so I can do any days

    Any question you might have: Did any of you have a hard time hearing a larger size for your wedding dress than your normal street size?!

    Weight loss/fitness goals: Lose the last 10 pounds I seem to be hanging on to.  I have been having trouble staying motivated.  Blowing off workouts here and there.  But I am tracking my food on MFP, so that is really helping me.  I haven't lost a pound, but lately several people have asked if I've lost a lot of weight.  I do Crossfit and I'm pretty committed to that, so it must be helping. 

    Favorite cake flavor: Anything rich and moist with great frosting!

    If you lurk, how long have you: I just came upon this board, I'm more active in the Hawaii board since that's where we are getting marrried!

    Anything interesting about yourself:  I'm hiking Half Dome in Yosemite next week-- okay, that's not too interesting, but I'm excited and super scared at the same time!

    Any question you might have:  I keep wondering what it is I need to do to finally lose the last 10 pounds?  I do Crossfit 4-5 times a week, but I keep thinking maybe I need to also add in more cardio?
  • Steph:  1st- measure yourself.  You may be losing inches just not lbs.  2nd-try switching up your workouts and food. That always helps me when I hit a plateau.  3rd-make sure your weight goal is realistic.

    Megh:  Nope, didn't bother me because wedding dress sizes are actually the more traditional sizing as opposed to the vanity sizing of today.  Plus, I try to not worry about numbers.  There are many women who wear the same size as me but look heavier because of how they carry their weight and fitness level.  Just make sure you have a dress that fits you perfectly and try not to worry about what size it says.

    cinci:  It's usually not the best to work the same muscle group too much each day but you can work out every day if you switch it up.  For me, mon. wed. fri are lower body days and tue. thurs. sat. are upper body days.  It IS pretty important to give yourself a rest day.

    Anything interesting about yourself:  I''m planning a destination wedding on an island completely different from the island I was born on! Some of my family is a little upset by this, but I wanted to avoid the huge family drama associated with that!

    Any question you might have:  I think it's doable for me to lose 40 lbs, especially since my BMI is high.  Everyone tells me that I'm insane because I don't LOOK like I weigh 190lbs but I really do. For work purposes the doctor tells me to lose weight, I'm in law enforcement, but it's so hard with a crazy schedule. Is it crazy for me to aspire to lose 16-20 lbs/month?

  • Kisha: 16 - 20 per month is a tad crazy.  You might have a large loss at the beginning due to water weight and such but realistic weight loss is not usually over 2 lbs per week with a healthy diet and exercise regime.  i totally get the 190 not looking that overweight thing.  I've had people look quite amazed when they hear my weeight.  Of course I see the weight even if others do not.

Way too long to admit Anything interesting about myself? I am so critical of myself to the point I put tremendous amounts of stress and pressure on myself. Any question: everyday I log my food into MFP I go over my carbs and sugar because of all the fruit and vegetables and feel guilty bc of it, but honestly a pear would make me go over the amount of sugar they have for a goal. Does anyone else have this problem or feel guilty about it?
  • Meagan: I switched to SparkPeople.com for my tracking because of similar problems with MFP.  Perhaps you could sign up over there and try it out for a few days?

    Personally, I don't ever feel guilty about sugar intake from fruit.  At least you're getting clean and sound nutrients with it as well.
  • Anna, I was using spark people for a long time and wasn't losing so I switched and like MFP alot better. I just get annoyed that your told to eat fruit and veggies and out sugar and carbs so low. O well sugar from watermelon is better than a cookie anyday:

    Anything interesting about yourself: I love to run but I ruptured a disc in my back almost 4 years ago, and ended up having surgery. Since then, the injury will start to hurt again whenever I run any considerable distance. This is one of the main reasons I have lost the motivation to work out, because running is one of the few exercises that I actually enjoy. 

    Any questions: What is your favorite low-impact (i.e. not stressful to back injuries) exercise?

  • Sarah: I have a knee problem and whenever that's acting up (usually because I did something stupid and overdid it) I switch to simple exercises like walking, biking, yoga, and simple routines including pushups, crunches, and squats.  They can be just as effective as the high impact things.  I wish I had access to a pool.  Swimming is great for that.

    i've noticed that some of you ladies are losing decent amounts of weight, which is awesome... but how?! i feel like i work my butt off and i am using MFP and am keeping under 1200 calories 90% of the time?!  FI and I are doing 10 mile bike rides a few times a week and other days i do shorter rides or walk.. he says he sees a difference but the scale says otherwise... Help!?

  • Blythe:  i blog to stay motivated.  I took a before pic that I look at to remind me of why I'm doing this and I reward myself regularly.

    Azimmmy: 1st, you might want to start taking measurement because you may very well be losing inches and just not weight.  That's a good thing!  If that's not the case, I feel that you may need to recalculate your intake.  I try to stay about 1200 but that's after taking into account whatever I burned through exercise.  So if I burn 500 calories on the golf course like today, my goal is to eat around 1700+.  Otherwise I'd only be at 700 calories net and that's not nearly enough.


    Mineforever:  99.9% of diet supplements are crap in my opinion.  Start tracking your food on a free site like MFP or SparkPeople.com, stay away from the junky processed foods, and get a little exercise in.  That's all you really need.  Supplements are for people that eat crap.  Eating healthy, yoou should get most of the vitamins your body needs.
