Hey girls I was wondering who if any has gotten a colonic done? I just bought one on groupon and I wanted to know about your experience. I have heard lots of great things about them

I think they're a horrible idea and should only be done as a medical necessity.  Our bodies are built to naturally cleanse themselves simply with proper eating (fiber) and plenty of water.

I've never gotten one, but one of FI's friends mother (that's a mouthful) performs them and she has a regular client base...if that helps any....

I'm pretty sure they throw off your electrolyte balance pretty badly.  I'm with Anna on this one... there is NO WAY IN H3LL someone is sticking a hose up my @$$ unless it is absolutely necessary.  Thanks, but no thanks!

*psst*  That you lose weight instantly.  Like lots of pounds.

However, that poop does get replaced as soon as you eat.  True story.  Poop is a non-negotiable body function.

I don't know about LOTS of weight but weight loss is a benefit, and you're right, totally non negotiable!!! LOL

So, have you heard anything bad while you're hearing the good stuff?

Like that it can cause irreparable injury?  That it gets rid of the good bacteria while getting rid of the bad stuff, opening you up to illness, diarrhea, etc?

Instead of doing an actual colonic, what about doing a cleanse using the stuff you're supposed to drink in preparation for a colonoscopy?? My FI and I have discussed getting colonics not so much for weight loss but to clean out all of the bad stuff and my doctor told me that a good alternative to that is "prepping for a colonoscopy." It's not as invasive and is less dangerous, although it's not much fun. I haven't done it so I'm not speaking from experience but just a thought... If you do go through with the colonic, I would be very interested to hear your thoughts.

No I never thought of that stuff you drink and when I read the cons about colonics I didn't hear about any injury or diarrhea. I'll most likely do it next week. I'll tell you girls all about it.... Pictures anyone?!
