Getting in Shape

Sad...

So I have been really busy with work and school and haven't had time to work out. I had so many tests this week and I finished them and was happy because then I could workout, but now I have a massive ear infection and am really sick!!!! Isn't life funny sometimes? Just wanted to vent.

Re: Sad...

  • I know how you feel. It seems like I have times when I get good momentum going, I'm doing well for a couple weeks, then something happens that seems to prevent me from continuing, like I get sick, or stuff in life happens. This is normal. The trick is being able to start up again as soon as you can.

I'm going through that right now. I stopped my exercise routing because I'm in the process of changing jobs and moving and have a ton of stuff to do to prepare. I start my new job in 15 days. After that, I know I'll be able to get right back into my routine. In the meantime I just have to watch what I eat, which is easier said than done, but it's a must!

Good luck! It's normal what you're going through. Life gets in the way sometimes. But if working out is a priority, you'll find time for it again!

  • Yeah, I understand how much it sucks when life gets in the way of plans.   I was starting to get into a routine (exercising about 4-5 times a week for over 1.5 hours) and then strained a hip during the warm up in a kick boxing class!  THEN, I go back to New York for minor surgery, which ended up having complications, leaving me with stiches, a large scar, and doctor's orders not to lift anything more than 10 lbs. for 3 months, or I could be at risk for a hernia.  Oh, and nothing that strains abdominal muscles too much.  Still have a loss of range of motion almost 1 month after surgery, so haven't been able to do much.

I bought a bodybugg the day before the surgery and was so excited to use it.  It seems pointless now.  And I am the type that can watch what I eat when I'm exercising, but when I'm not, it is so much harder to stay on track.  Perhaps that seems backwards, but that's just how I am.  Now I'm looking forward to January when I can exercise again.  Even then I will have to start slow, as I will be starting from scratch.  It's disheartening.

At least I only want to lose 10 -15 lbs for an October 2011 wedding, so I'll still have plenty of time.

In any event, it happens to everyone at some point.  Hopefully things will settle down for everyone and we can get back on track with more motivation than ever!
