Are spa body wraps healthy and do they work

Thinking of getting a body wrap to shed some inches but wondering if anyone has tried this, and if so, what the results have been...I know this doesn't replace healthy eating and exercise but if it's a healthy option, I might try it before my wedding. A friend who recently got married swears by using them (I think she does them at home vs. going to a spa though) and said they helped her lose some bloat in her stubborn areas.  Anyway, anyone have luck with them? Don't want to waste money if they don't work.

Thanks.

  • They might work, but they'll mostly shed some bloating/water weight and not help you lose the weight long term. It will probably come back in a few days. So it isn't realy a weight-loss solution - just a spa treatment.

  • I actually had one a couple years ago, before going to a family reunion. It worked, and the results lasted for a few months. But I found it quite uncomfortable and not worth the money for a short term solution. Instead, I changed my eating habits, started working out and now do hot yoga. That has worked far better, and the results are long lasting.
  • Ditto mery.  It's really just a spa treatment that will dehydrate you.

My mom got one the day before my wedding in the hopes that she'd be able to breathe a little easier in her MOB dress, but all she got out of it was a relaxing morning.
