Getting in Shape

Calorie Question

I've been tracking my intake the last week or so on MFP and I think I'm doing a pretty good job of eating well.  My question is, does it matter that I'm often just under my calorie goal?  My goal is 1200 calories, and today I'm 33 calories short.  Yesterday I was 11 calories under my goal.  This net calories, if that makes a difference.
Should I increase my intake a tiny bit?  I hit all my nutritional goals except for fat, so I don't think I'm really lacking in anything.
Also, SP gives a range of calories, while MFP gives a base number.  Which should I follow or how should I figure out a range of calores?

Re: Calorie Question

  • I don't find a small # like 33 to be a dealbreaker unless you're also exercising.  After yoou subtract your cals burned yoou should still be in the 1200 range.  But it does differ.  1200 is far too low for my body (it prefers around 1400 net).
  • I agree with Anna.... Having a shortfall that small isn't a big deal at all. I used MFP to lose 15 pounds and I was under my intake by a few points here and there. Just make sure that you are getting all the protein your body needs. I think the website is great!! Keep it up, and you will start feeling and looking great in no time.

  • No, you're completely fine if you're only off by that much!!! Good job!!
