Getting in Shape

WORST day for a 5k

Well, I guess it could be snowing...  The FI And I are running a 5K up here in Maine and it's raining and 40F!  We're running as bride and groom - me in a white tennis skirt and a small veil, him in a tee-shirt tuxedo.  We've been so excited about this!  He's a good runner, his best 5k time back in high school was under 17 min.  My best is around 33 min on a flat treadmill.  We're going to run it together anyway, as a symbol of working together and supporting one another.  His time will be much slower than usual and I will actually run something for a change.  And hey, maybe the cold rain will make me go faster?

  • Wear a hat and gloves and have fun!

Half an hour in the rain won't be so bad, and the memories will be way more hilarious.  Wink

Agreed! Just have fun with it!

I'm glad your FI is going to stick with you. When FI and I did our first 5k, he took off like a bat out of hell from the start line, leaving me in his trail. Joke is on him though because I still only finished like 90 seconds behind him. He learned his lesson. He's going to run with me this next one!

P.S. I LOVE your running outfits. Sounds super cute!
  • And now there's thunder.  Though it might clear up before 4:20.  It's the Healthy High race, get it?  I'll have to see if I have little white gloves...
  • My fastest time was at a 5K with cold temps (mid 20s F), snow, and gusts of wind at 40mph. Blargh. My mother has run 100-milers in the mountains through thunderstorms and torrential downpours. You'll be fine.
