15 pounds in month and a half?

hi everyone,
so i have been super busy with school the past two weeks lat week i didnt lose.. sad day lol. i actually have two questions.. the first is does fifteen pound in a month and a half seem realistic? i though five pounds every two weeks wasnt bad :) my second question was what is up with my scales lol. i have a dial type scale at home and my gym has a digital scale. the scales are always about 5 pounds apart, my home scale is gradually going down but the gym scale seems to be stuck, it drives me crazy! lol. thanks for the input!

  • 2 lbs/week is the standard for healthy weight loss in a person without a severe need. So more like 12 pounds max is what you should be looking at, though if you have a lot of healthy adjustments to your diet and exercise at one time, you may drop the 15 without harm. I would say shoot for 10 pounds, do nothing dramatic with your diet, and be happy if you can pull off more than that. One way to maximize how much "weight" you lose in a short period of time is to drop your sodium intake down to its recommended minimum, and up your water intake to near the recommended max for your height/weight. It should make you look thinner by avoiding bloat, might help you drop a few technical pounds of water retention, and is a good step toward improving your diet in general.

Scales are different, of course, and digital ones can often be finnicky. Make sure you're weighing yourself properly on both, i.e., wearing the same minimal amount of clothing and at a consistent time of day/time in your dietary schedule. The gym one might be stuck because you're not losing weight, whether that's because you're adding muscle or just not losing, but your home one thinks you're losing because of when you've been weighing. I say the gym one is more likely to be right not because it is, but because your body conditions are more likely to be the same each time you're on the gym scale than at home.
  • I would say 15 pounds is pushing it, however, I don't know your starting weight so it is hard to say. I mean-if you need to lose 100 pounds to be in your healthy weight range, 15 pounds in a month and a half is a little bit more realistic than if you are pretty close to your healthy weight range.

I would say aim for 2 pounds per week if you are not more than 30 pounds overweight.

About the scale-my recommendation is to just use one of them and quit using the other.  For one thing it sounds like you are weighing yourself too often if you are doing it both at home and at the gym.

[QUOTE]thanks for the imput guys! i thought 15 was a little high but figured if 2 pound a week was the goal 15 wouldn't be to bad.. though im not holding my breath since school keeps getting in the way lol. the scale thing is kinda funny i only weigh myself once a week on monday mornings after breakfast ill get on my then head to the gym and check that one lol. and it always reads off by 4 to 5 pounds. the reason i use the two is because with classes i dont get to hit the gym as often as i like anymore and would love to have a scale that read the same lol. oh well, the one in my house it is :) thanks guys :)

You should weight yourself in the morning after going potty and before you eat and butt naked lol that way there are no weight from clothes or food :)
