Getting in Shape

Weight watchers

I joined WW today...again. I did it years ago and lost 35 pounds. I've gained back about 25, so here we go again. I have a few friends that have joined and I know I can do it. I'm excited to get back in shape and lose some weight! Anyone else join?

Re: Weight watchers

  • I've been on since last May, and it really is a good program. I've only lost about 15 pounds and one size, but I get compliments all the time. I've had some bad weeks, plus I have hypothyroidism that isn't fully under control and I'm on birth control, so my endo said that may be why I'm having a hard time losing.

  • I joined a year ago and have lost about 40 pounds. If I could stick to it better, I would have lost more. I really like it though, so simple.

    Good luck!

  • me! I started last week and have already lost 2 pounds
    so motivated!
  • As a weight watchers success story (90lbs loss maintained for about 3 years now) I am now employed there part time while I finish up veterinary school.  The program is amazing IF YOU FOLLOW IT!  So many times we get people coming in to our meetings who make so many excuses as to why they can't lose weight but for every 3 or 4 of those I get to see a man or woman who walks in and will admit it hasn't been easy but made the decision to be selfish and take responsibility for their actions and are well on their way to their ultimate goal!  I wish you all the BEST of luck in a program that I TRULY TRULY believe in!
  • I started yesterday! Feeling very motivated but can't get onto the site today at all, maybe super busy with new people joining.

  • Started (again) on Sunday! Day three and it's going well. I love the recipes they have on the site--I made the cheeseburger casserole last night (only 5 points!!) and my FH LOVED it! There was enough for leftovers for lunch today. I have been a member online since 2006 apparently (eep!!) but get discouraged easily that I haven't kept it up for more than a few months. That's a lot of $$ wasted, I guess. Now I have my wedding dress and the honeymoon to keep me motivated. Not to mention feeling healthy and not embarassed that my clothes are ill-fitting and tight!

    Good luck!

  • How easy is WW to follow?  I want to lose 15 pounds or so before the big day, but I am HORRIBLE at cooking and grocery shopping.  Are the recipes easy and only include a few ingrediants?
  • The one thing I would recommend to all of you doing WW is to look at this as an ultimate HEALTH goal.  Of course we all want to look good for our weddings but what happens when the wedding comes and goes?  I recommend making an appt with a doctor and getting a body fat analysis and a full check up done.  You may be shocked to see some of the values of cholesterol, or body fat % etc., but these things are goals that you can strive to maintain at a HEALTHY level even after the wedding has come and gone!  Again good luck to you all!
  • I'm so happy there are others that joined. I did it a few years ago as I mentioned, and i DO hate that everyone thinks I'm just doing it for the wedding. I'm doing it because I'm overweight, unhealthy, and have low energy. I want to look good- and FEEL good! You have to be ready and motivated to do it. I have a great support system (even FI does it with me- but wont go to meetings. He does weigh in each week, same day, and will track his foods- with my help and reminding). It is an amazing program. Best of luck to you ladies. Anyone else weigh in on Mondays? We can start a weekly post ;)
  • I joined a few months ago but totally fell off the wagon starting at Thanksgiving.  I started again on Monday, but haven't been tracking the points anywhere... I keep forgetting.  But I kind of track them in my head since I've been doing it off and on for years.  I weigh in on Mondays too - I have support at work (we just starting doing a "biggest loser" competition! But I could always use more!!!  And yes, my immediate motivation is to look good in the pictures, but I did start this whole process before I even got engaged, so I am more interested in just being healthy and at a good weight then just look good on my wedding day :)
  • I joined yesterday!!! I'm doing a competition with my family (we all could lose some weight for health reasons)
I'm so excited there are so many people doing it!!

    good luck everyone!!!

  • I'm looking into joining to get in better health! I like that I can come on here and get Real stories from REAL women on it. :) is it all recipes or do they send meals? I'm ready to get back on track!
  • WOO HOO -- I've been on it since September -- however "feel off" during the holiday's -- I've restarted mentally and glad to see that there are so many more ladies who are doing it!  Man -- I feel like I could be there commerical (minus the fact I still have like 30 plus to loose) because I promote the CRAP out of this program...

  • I joined WW a while ago, but didn't really follow the plan for more than a few days at a time.  I jumped back in on Thursday and am doing well on it so far.  I'm hungry a lot, but my body is used to me eating junk a lot of the day.  I'm hoping that will get better as my body adapts.  My goal isn't really weight loss, but to get into shape.  I have too much fat in places I don't want it, and not enough tone.  I also lack stamina and endurance.  If I work on eating healthy and building stamina and tone, weight loss should be a delightful side effect.

  • I just joined and went to my first meeting on Friday. I've had a personal trainer since September and I haven't been seeing the results I should be... so ding ding... it's time to eat right!!

I'm really hoping this works for me! Does anyone else have trouble reaching their daily points?? Yesterday I was only 5 pp+ short and today I may end up being short a bit more.

Also check out the blog emily bites. (emilybites.com) She has great recipes and gives the points for all of them. Tonight I'm making buffalo chicken "cupcakes" for dinner!!

    Good luck to everyone!
