Yoga DVD's?

Does anyone know any good beginner yoga dvd's?  I need a little spice in my life :) It's my present for losing the first 5! So exciting :) haha!

I'd love to do yoga in a gym somewhere as a class, but time & money right now just doesn't allow :(

Re: Yoga DVD's?

  • I really like Seane Corn. She has two dvds, (session one and two) This is a link to session one  http://www.amazon.com/Seane-Corn-Vinyasa-Uniting-Movement/dp/B0001DHSKG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322733568&sr=8-1

I have done the first one off and on for years now and recently got the second. The first dvd is good for instruction, and is about an hour long. It goes at a good pace for beginers. She does not have any abs included though.

Shiva Rae is ok too, I am not a fan of Rodney Yee though... I just can't get over his junk

That said, yoga doesn't burn that many calories. It is better for stretching and toning. Not sure what your goals are but if you want to loose weight make sure to do something with cardio too.

And, one more thing haha. I just got a cupon from groupon today for super cheap yoga classes. I don't know if you go for anyof those coupon sites but sometimes they have fitness deals where you get a trial run for really cheap. Going to a class is always better then a dvd just because you have an instructor there to correct your form and help you modify for your level of flexibility.

Hope you find something that you like!

  • As far as DVDs, I'd suggest the Exhale ones (I'm not at home so I can't remember what they're calle) and also I have one or two by Ana Brett/Ravi Singh that aren't bad for beginners. I still like the classes, though. They are totally worth it! I second the opinion above - try to find some Groupon rates for a one-month membership, even just to get the basics down before you do it at home.

And just to clarify, yoga can actually help you lose weight - if you do hot vinyasa or hot power yoga. It's incredibly difficult and I definitely lost weight (and not just water weight, believe me). Also, when you gain muscle mass you burn more calories :)
