Special K Diet

Does anyone know if eating that cereal as the box claims really does help you lose weight? Of course combined with working out... :)

Re: Special K Diet

  • You would probably lose weight, but you would be pretty nutrient and calorie deprived unless you make a massive meal for the third non-special k meal each day.
You're better off using sparkpeople or something to count calories and keep track of where those calories are coming from (carbs, proteins, fats, etc.)  I firmly believe that designing your own healthy meals and snacks each containing proteins, healthy fats, and fruits and veggies are better than any templated diet.

I tried it for awhile to jump start a diet. I can tell you that I was super hungry and tired, and didn't feel well AT all until I said screw it. I felt like such crap that I couldn't stick to it. If I lost any weight, I gained it right back. If you're combining it with a work out too, you will be seriously calorie deprived and you might have trouble summoning the energy to workout. Just count calories, like PP said and add the work outs.

Here's the thing about the Special K diet:  It works.  It sure does!  But you'll be miserable, hungry, bored, and if you keep it up long enough--malnourished.

Here's why it works:  You're restricting your calories.  That's it.  It's easy because you don't really have to think.  You like being able to eat whatever you want for your third meal.

Get the same results, with a little more work, but a lot less hunger, boredom, and a lot more nutrients and enjoyment by using a free site like myfitnesspal, sparkpeople, livestrong, etc, and counting your calories.
