Getting in Shape

Workout Accountability: Monday

Hello all!

This weekend I ran both days, not very far but it was better than nothing!  It was nice to really be able to start to break in the new shoes.  I'm still having foot pain but it goes away when I run at least ;)

How did you all do exercise and food wise?  Any goals you'd like to accomplish this week?

Also, medic, how did the marathon go?!

Re: Workout Accountability: Monday

  • Goals for me will be eating healthier and to make more of an effort to go to the gym almost everyday this week.  I also should sign up for that 10K soon...
  • Hey! I too am trying to stay in shape. My goals for this week are to eat healthier and to go to the gym ast least 3-4 times this week! Wish me luck! And good luck to you! Keep us posted!
  • Glad you are feeling better Lbarr! Seems like it's been quite a while so you must feel awesome about your weekend!!

I took Friday off, did the Elliptical for 40 minutes Saturday and ran 5 miles yesterday! Both of the days were filled with housework and yard work so I am feeling really good about being active and in pretty good shape!

Also for the first time ever MFP projected in 5 weeks I'll be in the 130's!!!! I don't think that will happen as it is still 12+ lbs away and I had logged all the gardening and yard work as well as the exercise, but still! The 130s! I haven't seen them since jr high! I am so motivated to keep going!
  • Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I am sure I went over my calorie limit with St. Paddy's Day festivities so I didn't even bother tracking Saturday. I did get a work out in yesterday. I plan on doing weights tonight after work.

lbarr - Glad your foot seems to be getting better!

medi - how was the race???!

  • Hey I am working towards getting in shape as well. My goals for this week are to go to the gym at least 3-4 times this week. Running is an excellent workout but my knee has been bothering me so I am trying to stick to light weight training and the ellyptical machine until it is better.  So glad to hear someone else has goals they are working on for the week as well. I am hoping to lose some weight before my wedding but I have  a year so we'll see! Keep us posted on your progress!
  • Friday I worked out on my bike for 90 minutes (to make up for eating some left over pie from PI day)

Saturday we went to the gym and I only got 30 minutes in on the elliptical before FI complained that he had a migraine so we left before I could really get anything major accomplished with weight lifting etc.

When he was feeling better though, we did manage to get out and play some disk golf for an hour and a half, not super strenuous cardio but it's still exercise :)

Tonight is gym night - FI has class, so I get to spend as long as I want at the gym and actually get all the weights in that I want to!

  • Morning!

Glad to hear you're doing better lbarr! And congratulations on the up-coming milestone kp!

We were pretty lazy this weekend and didn't eat the best (though not completely terrible), but managed to go for a run and eat tons of fruit yesterday.  I went to the gym this morning and got a good weight workout in.
My goal is just to work out M-F, every morning, and do something active on Sat and Sun.  I don't have to worry about food goals as much when the weather is warmer because I find that all I really crave is fresh fruit and yogurt.

  • Good Morning!

My fiance ran his first 5K on Saturday, and I cheered him on from the finish line & took the day off.  He was really proud of himself as he was able to do 10-minute miles which is faster than he's been running at the gym.

Sunday I hit the gym hard - lifted upper body (and I am FEELING it today!) and took a 60-minute spin class.  According to my HR monitor I burned close to 1300 calories in 2 1/2 hours - yippee!

This morning I lifted legs.  No cardio.

This week I am traveling for work, leaving on Wed, so my goal is to:
    a) not fall off the eating healthy wagon completely
    b) take at least 1 spin class while I'm away, and
    c) not drink with the exception of Friday night

We'll see how I make out.  It is so hard when I travel!  Next week I plan to take my eating discipline up a few notches.

  • I haven't worked out in a week. I was sick with a terrible cold for three days last week. My FI and I are also doing a TON of home improvements which is taking up so much time!

So, today I HAVE to go to the gym! I signed up for a six week bootcamp that begins April 2nd. So between now and then, I have to get myself back into shape so I don't die doing that.

  • I have been sick for a week too with a repiratory infection. While I ate next to nothing, I also did next to nothing! Kept my fluids up though. Tonight is my first night back in the gym and I am going to ease myself into it, just some weights and maybe running 2 miles.

  • Starting a bootcamp tonight! It's a four week bootcamp, meets three times a week and ends two weeks before the wedding. Bad thing is I'm still sore from my 5k on Saturday!!

  • Hey everyone!

I ran outside Friday, lifted on Saturday and took yesterday off.  FILs came to visit, and we walked a ton because it was so gorgeous outside.

My goal for this week is to finally break past the 20 pound weight loss mark.  I've only maintained the past 2 weeks, and I'd really like to finally get past this point.  And I know it's all to do with my diet, so I just need to get my focus back on that.  I improved a bit this past week, but not enough to really make a difference.

And ditto everyone else, can't wait to hear how you did Medi!

  • good morning everyone!

i'm back at it...doing my fruit, veggie and water detox all this week and then switching to regular meals--keeping in bounds of low glycimic intake--i will also begin in the gym at least 3 days a week. i figure i have no excuse since there's a gym in my apartment building.

today's breakfast: 3 bananas, an orange and a liter of water--i'm fighting (i HATE water and MIO is gross, lol)

my wedding isn't until next july but my goal weight loss is 30-40lbs. closer to 40 so i won't feel guilty if i gain 10lbs.

  • Sorry to take so long to update you guys!!!  As you can guess, I've been eating, sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more.  I did in fact survie... here's the recap:
    I finished the marathon!!!!
    Miles: 26.2
    Toenails lost: 0
Hours it took to complete the single most intense endurance challenge of my life: 5
    Times I fell down: 0
    Blisters: 3
Times I threw up: I lost track after I started dry heaving
Next marathon:  F*CKING NEVER EVER EVER DOING THAT SH!T AGAIN. EVAAARRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously- I love me a half marathon.  Love love LOVE a 5k.  But I'm never doing another marathon.  I hurt all over.  My body has never been in so much pain.  I can't even tell you what exactly hurt, because it was just EVERYTHING!  I had a headache, my legs were like jello, between my shoulder blades ached from trying to just keep my posture.  Incredible amount of pain and intense, mind numbing fatigue.  I don't know how people become addicted to marathons.

I had a great first half, and actually felt ok until about 19 miles.  I threw up, but kept going.  No biggie.  I needed to stop and walk and strech & puke again around mile 21, and it was more of the same every mile until about 24.5, then I just decided if I didn't at least jog the rest of the way I would never finish & I'd literally die on the course.  So I ran.  I thought I was running.  I was barely moving but at the time, in my delerium, I felt like I was flying.  I finished, found my FI waiting for me, cheering for me, so excited that I had finished, and all I could do was sob.  I was bawling like a bitch.  I have no idea why.  I could NOT stop crying.  I mean a good UGLY cry.  Omg I'm never doing that again.

So, if you read all that, thank you.  Seriously, thank you ALL so much for the encouragement.  Running is 90% mental, that's true.  Physically, I would have given up at mile 19.  Mentally, I pushed harder than I ever thought I could.  Thanks for the support!
  • I hit the gym Saturday and then again today. I'm planning on going tomorrow again.

  • Happy Monday!

Just finished swimming at the gym for an hour. Logged in 2,500 meters and did a variety of intervals using the freestyle stroke. After three weeks of the gym pool undergoing remodeling, it feels great to hit the water again.

Oh my gosh Medic! That's nuts! But WAY TO GO!

The thought of a marathon is even more daunting now.. I'm going to stick with still working towards 5K!

Weekend was good for food, and decent for exercise too. I continued with 30DS on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - but Sunday I definitely didn't give it my all. I knew going in I was wiped; I'm also getting bored of level one. Tomorrow we start level 2!
