Getting in Shape

Recommend your blender!

We need a new blender. We have been making smoothies and I can't stand it when it can't handle the simplest things.

I would like it to handle ice and have a glass holder thingy. (I couldn't, for the life of me, think of what it is called. haha)

probably the most efficient blender I've ever had.  Easily makes my smoothies.  Ice crushing = no problemo

I have that one, too!  Actually it's a blender and food processor (different attachment).  I use it every day.

  • Something that I've found helps with ice crushing in most blenders is blending all the non-ice ingredients first, and THEN adding the ice.  I used to have the worst time with blending smoothies in our blender, but since I started doing it that way, I haven't found any large ice chunks.

Also?  Whole frozen strawberries can be tough if you have a stubborn blender.  I either microwave them for about 30 seconds, or get the sliced ones.

  • I am getting my fiance a magic bullet for Valentines day.  He uses a hand held thing right now but I read a ton of reviews on the bullet.  I would check it out!

  • I would look for one with metal gears not plastic. When you're at the store just lift off the pitcher part of the blender. If the component that spins the blades inside the pitcher is plastic its no good.

I bought one a couple months after I moved out on my own and that thing is still going like a champ. I never have chunks of ice and it never gives me a hard time when I'm blending. :)
  • Ninja, all the way. My mom even bought one after using mine.
