Joined a gym

I workout better in a gym than at home so I took the plunge to join a local gym.  Planet Fitness has a great deal right now, so it was definitely the perfect time to join.  I went the last two days and am a bit sore, but in a good way.  I did 30 minutes on the elliptical both days, and a bunch of machines on Friday.  My minimum is going to be using the elliptical and machines on MWF.  My extra will be using the elliptical on Tuesday and Thursday. 
Bonus:  I can practice my Spanish reading Univision subtitles!

  • I love the elliptical, but you should think about changing it up a little, unless you have a medical reason not to.  The bike, stair stepper, even walking on the treadmill.  Your body gets used to doing the same thing over and over and gets more efficient at it (which sounds like it should be a good thing, but that means you'll burn fewer calories and build less muscle).

  • Good idea.  Last time I lost weight, I never had an issue with hitting a plateau and basically did exactly what I'm doing this time, but it could happen.  Maybe I'll use my two cardio only days to switch it up.  I feel like I don't burn nearly as many calories on the bike, and can't run on a treadmill, but if I do both I'll still get a great workout in.
