Getting in Shape

Toes go numb...

when I use an elliptical and an exercise bike.  Does this happen to anyone else??  I wear the same tennis shoes I wear while at work where I walk/stand 8+ hrs straight and have no problem.

Today I used the elliptical for just 30 mins and before I finished my toes were numb.  Weird... Any thoughts??

  • This happens to me also but I think it is my shoes. Maybe it could be the way your foot moves while on the machines.
  • I have the same problem! My friend is a personal trainer and she told me that its most likely that you have the wrong shoes or your wearing your shoes to tight.
  • I feel like I tie my shoes too tightly, but I have very narrow feet and feel like they will fall off! But, I am hoping Santa is going to bring me some new shoes for Christmas :)
  • Yeah, me too. I think the shoes may be fitting improperly and/or you are putting all your weight on them. I find on the Elliptical when I purposely shift my weight back toward my heels, the tingling stops.

  • Thanks ladies! Glad I am not the only one this happens to.  I will be looking for new shoes soon :)

    This!
  • Mine do, but I'm pretty sure it is because I stand on my toes the entire time.

  • It's pretty common-if you go to an actual shoe store they can measure your foot and help you find a shoe for working out that will help.  A lot of shoes don't fit properly in the toe area which you use a lot more when you work out.  You can also try different kinds of socks to solve the problem.
