Getting in Shape

Hello - Intro (Sorry its kinda long)

Hello Ladies
Ok so I have posted on this board a couple times before but now that I am less than a yr away from the wedding I decided it was time to get my butt in gear and formally introduce myself. 

My name is Lyndsey, and I am from MLSP MN.   I would like to loose about 70lbs before my wedding Nov 19, 2011 so that I am under 200lbs when I say "I DO"  My goal is to loose 2-3lbs per week which is doable if I get my act together asap.

SO I joined Anytime Fitness and got a free 1/2hr with a trainer which I used today (Holy wow) and will sign up for a few more sessions with her. Plan is to go 2-3 times a week which should be easy since there is one location within walking distance from my house and litteraly next door to my work)

I am also going to start eating right, cutting out bad habbits one at a time. (This week is energy drinks, I know I know they are HORRIBLE for my so that is why they are first to go!  I will replace with eating better breakfasts like protien and good carbs for energy)

I hope to sound off ideas with you lovely ladies and possible vents when things get tough.  Good luck to all of you in your weight loss journeys and here's to a better you!!

    One of my recommendations is to drink a LOT of water. Probably more than you think you should! (eg, if you weigh 200# then you should drink at least 100oz of water)
    Another recommendation is to eat within every 3 hours. Have a small snack between each of your regular meals. This will keep you from eating unplanned snacks (chips, crackers, whatever is around) and will also keep your metabolism up. I usually have an apple with some peanuts (or peanut/almond butter).
    Limiting portions (IE: 3-4oz of a protein, 1 fruit, etc) can have a big effect. (This is also easier to do when eating at least every 3 hours) Within the first few days, your stomach will begin to shrink and you will feel full with the smaller portions.

    Also, don't get discouraged by the scale. Weigh yourself every two weeks or so. (Daily isn't a good idea) Remember that you will probably see results in losing inches before pounds if you're working out. You will be building muscle while losing fat, which will make you lose inches, but not necessarily lose weight. The new/additional muscle will burn more fat and increase your metabolism!

This thread will not only help you stay accountable for what you eat, but you can read what others are eating to get an idea for new snacks and meals!

    FutureMRS: MLSP is Minneapolis,  or wait, is is MPLS??? that makes more sense, I always mess it up... we technically I'm in Chaska which is a SW subburb or minneapolis.

  • You can vent and sound off with me anytime! I am in the same boat as you.Getting married on 9/10/11 and want to lose weight. I am with LA Fitness and admit that my trainer helps! He kicks my butt @ least 2x a week and then I go on my own another 2 days. Keep up the good work and stay motivated. The hardest thing for me is to keep the healty eating going. I totally feel guilty if I eat crap one day. Message me if you need to vent or help staying motivated-Good Luck!

    And also, for my sanity, it's "lose", not "loose" at least in this context.  As you lose weight your pants get looser.
