Ask a Knottie Anything

Yep, totally stole this idea from the Etiquette board.  I thought it would be fun.  I'll start.

Stephiehall - I might have missed it, but was your DH's reaction to your b-pics what you thought it would be?

At the sake of trying to NOT be tacky... I'd like to ask the OMH's this...

(and please don't answer if you don't want to... I'm just curious)

What was your budget vs actual cost of your wedding?

    Brianna -

Budget: $10,000, Actual $10,120.  Yep, only $120 over budget. That's for everything wedding related except the HM and Rings.

Because I'm a rockstar and that is how I roll.

Our budget was $10K.  We came in around $7K but almost $9K if you include the honeymoon, which was not the original plan.

We didn't really have a budget. My father said he could do $5k and anything other then that we had to do ourselves.

We ended up spending right around $20,000 for our 85 person wedding. That number included EVERYTHING; rings, dress, food, honeymoon, cake, bridal party gifts, the whole thing.

Not yet... I ended up buying a nice pre-matted frame from JoAnn's this weekend so it's not as urgent.   I uploaded my photo to the site you suggested though and the dimensions aren't quite like I want them to be (because of the photo, not the site).  I may need a different size frame.

Our budget was $10k.  We spent $10,763.  This includes everything (HM, rings, etc.) - EXCEPT for invitations, my dress and the rehearsal dinner.  They were paid for by others as gifts to us.

I don't have much of a budget, but we estimated about 15k, and I'm pretty sure we went over a little, I'd estimate by maybe 2k? ... But we had a pretty big wedding, and also took care of the wedding party attire.  Sorry I'm not more help... my parents paid for the wedding, and I think my mom's way of coping with the cost was to just not add everything up.

I'm still here, and I still love you guys! I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning this, but a friend of mine who's a high school theater teacher asked me to be her music director for her production of Peter Pan. So we had to hit the ground running with rehearsals once I got back from the HM. So most days I'm going from Carrollton to Denton to Celina and back to Carrollton. And I'm trying to actually get some work done when I'm at work. I still lurk a lot, I just haven't been finding the time to post!

As for the pictures - he really liked them, more than I thought he would! He especially liked the ones with his record case! I gave him a framed teaser pic, but he hasn't had a chance to sit down and pick the other ones yet.

We budgeted around $5,000 and came in around $6,000. This included about 30 guests and everything except for the HM and the rings. The HM was about $2,500 and our rings were about $8,000 (what can I say...I like diamonds haha)

We budgeted 13k and came in about $500 over.  We did a few little extras in the last few days because my mom was so awesome and gave us a little extra money.

DH's parents "thought" our original budget would be around $20K.  When Ben told me this, I was like hmmmm, that will be tough (knowing already that he wanted a hotel and an open bar).  Once we booked the Melrose, it was apparent that it would go up.  We never really had a set budget, we just ran all the costs by them as we went along (although I would never advise doing it this way!).  I paid for my dress, candy buffet, favors, guest book, and all the other accessories (all the little crap) myself and they covered the big vendors.

I think when all said and done, it was right around $30K total I think.  Not including rings or HM.

LOL - well... Basically, if there's someone/something that's sticking out of place really badly, or something that is an OBVIOUS flame... they become the elephant.  :)

Sorry, I went to lunch.  My florist was Gloria Parker from Blooming Accents, Inc.  Her phone number is 817-726-8429.  Please tell her Lacey recommended her if you contact her.  Below is the description of my bouquet as stated in my contract.  I'm such a flower idiot.  I still have no idea what the big flower in my bouquet is...

<span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000">Bridal bouquet, containing Matsumoto asters, dahlias, monkey tail fern, reflexed tulip, white stephanotis and ornamental raspberries (if available), plum anemone (if available), underlaid with dark purple kale, minimal greenery, stems wrapped with double-faced satin ribbon (color to be determined)

ETA: But, pretty much she knew she could change it up if need be - for example, if something listed above was not available.

My parents gave us $20k and his parents paid for the rehearsal dinner.  For the wedding we came in right at it pretty much but I didn't include our rings ($1948) in that budget since I really wanted those to be something we bought, not my parents.  Oh and the honeymoon wasn't in that either.

Looking back I loved our wedding but I definitely feel that it could've been cheaper.  I did so much myself and still spent enough money to buy a really nice car.
