should I write my own vows?

Not sure if I should write my own vows.   I am not a great writer so I am little nervous...

Re: should I write my own vows?

  • You don't have to write your own. There are tons of different vows that you can find online.

this is really a personal preference thing.  How does your FI feel about it?   Do you both want to write your own vows, or do you just want to repeat after the officiant?   It may be odd if one of you does your own, and the other wants to "repeat after me".

So, I would talk with your FI and go from there.
  • I'm using these:

I promise to encourage your compassion and individuality,
Because that is what makes you unique and wonderful.
I promise to nurture your dreams,
Because through them your soul shines.
I promise to help shoulder our challenges,
For there is nothing we cannot face if we stand together.
I promise to be your partner in all things,
Not possessing you, but working with you as a part of the whole.
Lastly, I promise to you perfect love and perfect trust,
For one lifetime with you could never be enough.
This is my sacred vow to you, my equal in all things.
