Re: overwhelmed.com

  • Hi!  I feel your stress!  Planning a wedding is overwhelming.  Have you set a date and venues for ceremony and reception?  Has your FI been getting involved?

Biggest suggestion I can make is to use the planning tools on this website, and talk budget with anyone who may be helping with the financial aspect of the wedding.  Also, dont hesitate to reach out to friends, famaily and your fellow knotties!!  Smile

  • Welcome and Congrats!

If you already have your date set you should think about size of guest list and budget.  Once you have those two things done start looking for a venue and caterer.  And from there a caterer (if needed), photographer, dj, florist, etc.

believe me i am far from great at the planning thing - i have my venue(hotel so all the food / alcohol is with that )  - and my dress is ordered - my veil and headpiece came in  so they are in my house...
i have my save the dates ..

i still have no dj ,  no cake, no idea on my  invites since my mom is being difficult about them , no florist and no videographer ... oh and i still have to book the hair and make up lady

in 2 weeks when my sister comes we are going to play with centerpiece ideas and see what we come up with

  • I agree with pp that you need to have an idea on the guest list - really sit down and firgure it out as much as possible who HAS to be invited in regards to family on both sides AND what friends you really want there - AND the extra people that are going to be invited for one reason or another -    that way you have a number to start with as far as working your budget out - and you definately do not want to find a venue that would only hold half of your guests - I have heard horror stories about this happening to people

My venue holds 150, my list is 170.    most of those are out of town people... and i know several won't come... hoping another few don't to make it even at least

  • I have my caterer and event planner, plus the church. Haven't even secured the reception venue. That's tomorrow. I think it's much more fun to plan my sons birthday party. Which is what I'm doing. For the next few weeks.

  • Thanks everyone..Im a little relieved to know that Im not alone..my FI is a little involved but he'd rather leave it to me. His sister is helping though as well as my mother and godmother. We are in a small town in MD but Ocean City is a resort town and only 25 mins away so we are planning to marry there. I have contacted a few venues which also have alcohol and food included..my cousin is a dj and I am a hairstylist so thats taken care of but everything else is still in the works. Thanks for the advice..glad to have friends that share my experience
