Does anyone else...

Have second thoughts about vendors they already booked? Well not second thoughts, just … worries? Or maybe second thoughts. Oy!

I am already a worry-wart and I do this with a lot of things, but the first thing I booked was the photographer. This was THE most important thing to me and I put myself under all kinds of pressure to pick right, and pick quick. Now that I am all relaxed and picking other things all relax-ed-ly I kind of wished I had spent a little more time picking my photographer which I care more about.

Oh btw, I missed that post 2 weeks ago about newbies introducing themselves, and by the time I saw the post it was like 3 days later. I only come on like once a week, but I feel like I am a stalker because I know all kinds of things about you guys, and I don’t say much! I even have wedding crushes on some of you who already got married :o)-
So kind of belatedly:
I am Amy J
I am getting married 5/29/11 (Sunday of memorial day weekend)
At the Firewheel Golf Course
To David who I met at Big D NYE 2009
I am terrified that everything won’t come together cohesively. That will look cheap and not well thought out. That I am spending my money on all the wrong things, and that no one will have fun!
Consider my question the one above.

    Welcome to the boards!

The one thing I learned during wedding planning was to always trust your gut.

Hey there!  First of all, who is your photographer?

Second--Firwheel as in the mall?  (I live in Garland so I was just curious).

I did ALOT of research (and asked many the annoying question here) when picking my vendors, and I have to say, I picked well.  But as far as it "all coming together," don't worry--it will look exactly like you have pictured in your head, I promise!

    Welcome!
I was close to having an anxiety attack the morning after I paid the deposit for the Reception venue...I had to step back and remember all of the reasons why I LOVED the venue and picked it over so many other choices. I've done the same thing with each vendor ever since--the amount of research I did to come to that decision led me to that person/company confirmed that I had made the right choice. I think it is human nature to second-guess our decisions, but we have to go back to what road led us to them. I don't want to sound like a cheeseball about it, but hopefully you know what I mean.

Court- Not cheezball at all, that is kind of what i was looking for. Thank you! I definitely think it was the deposit that began the nerves.

Stephie-Yep Firewheel like the mall, there is a HUGE golf course off of brand road (and campbell, and gbtw) We just moved to garland and as we were driving around checking out our new 'hood we stumbled upon it!

    Thanks for the welcomes!

Who is your photog and what are your concerns causing your second thoughts?

    Welcome :)

It is Don Mamone (link) I feel like i put too much pressure on myself to pick quickly, and i could have interviewed more people to end up with someone i am 110% about. I got excited about him because he had done a few events for my company and i had been impressed with his work for that. Then he has these slide shows on his website that he set to music, and they just blew me away (link)

But (and i guess this is what is getting me nervous) he hasn't posted a new slide show since i first looked at them, and he has only had a few blog posts. I know he does more weddings and things, he is just not posting them. At first i thought he didn't have time but if he was only posting when he had time, he would post the best of the best, and the ones he has posted are not amazing they are just good.

I think I just need to chill out and follow Court's advice. lol My fiance is out of town and he is usually the one that talks me down. :o)

Oh, I'm definitely suffering from 2nd thoughts.  I'm having trouble being comfortable with my venue - I thought I was getting a good deal, but now I'm not so sure. I agree with pp, just focus on why you booked them in the first place - that's what I've been doing, and it seems to help the most. Trust yourself, I'm sure its going to be great!

People will often tell you that you need to meet with at least three of each vendor, but there's nothing wrong with knowing exactly what you want. I only met with one photographer, one DJ and one officiant. I also only visited one venue. And I don't regret a single one of those choices.

Agreed.  I had 3 DJ meetings lined up and hired with the first one I met with on the spot.  I just knew he was the right one--sometimes you just know.

But as for second guessing--we've all done that too!

The problem with wedding planning, is there's so much time to plan....So you pick something, and then have to sit on it for 6+ months. Which then makes your mind wonder, which then makes you second guess. Just remember why you chose him/her/it over all the others you look at/interview.

I'm a worrywart myself, so I know what you mean. I just try and think past it, I know I made a good decision, and I need to remind myself of it occasionally :)

If it makes you feel better, my DOC highly recommends Don Mamone. I think his pics are great!
