AW: Got my dress!

Since I'm such a choosy person, this is a big, big check. I usually agonize over decisions, but this dress was perfect!

Side note: How do I add pictures to posts?

Thank you guys! I love it, it was exactly what I wanted! I can't wait to show off the best part-it's got a big open back, so pretty! I don't have a good picture of it, because it needs to be altered (it was pinned in the photo above), but I will post once I do!
  • Yes please! I can't wait to see more of it! It's so so beautiful!

Also, bonus: even with all the alterations, we'll still come in completely under budget!
  • It is beautiful and looks great on you! Where did you get it? Who is the designer?

Pence and Panache in Burleson, really great store if you're looking. Most dresses are around 800-2000, but you can get lucky and find one that's discontinued for less (they also have a few very simple, but nice dresses aroun 300).

I honestly don't remember the designer, I know a lot of the ones I liked were Allure, but I always forget to pay attention to that kind of stuff.
  • Wow, that dress looks gorgeous on you!

  • Love it!!!

I think you've got time-I'm way ahead of the curve here. I'm not even getting alterations made or picking BM dresses until much later in the year, if even next year.

I honestly did not expect to buy it this soon, but it felt so right for what I wanted, and it was discontinued, so it was basically, but it now, or not at all.
  • makes sense, you can schedule alterations close to the date so even if your size changes some you'll be able to have it fit regardless of when you actually bought it. I've started looking at bridesmaid dresses, I'm actually stressing more about that than my own dress! One of my bridesmaids is very chesty (like an F cup), another is an A cup....they are all so differently shaped I'm trying to figure out how to find something that works for everyone, I don't want anyone miserable!

    <div>
</div><div>I have basically the same situation. Have you thought about finding dresses in the same color/fabric/by the same designer, but with different cuts? That way they can all have the right fit for them, but still be very coordinated. That's my plan anyway.</div>
  • I have thought about maybe using cocomyles.com which is kind of what you're talking about, I could pick out the fabric and color and they could pick out the top and bottom of the dress (or I guess I could dictate some of that too if I wanted). The only issue is they don't really have the color I was hoping to use for the dresses (like an light blue aqua color). I am having a few colors for the wedding though (also using navy blue, and little pops of yellow here and there), so I could use navy for the dresses instead. Anyway. I need to talk to them all and see what they think will work for them, and yeah, start to at least figure out what I want for my own dress!

Oooh Aqua will be pretty! And the pops of yellow will be perfect with the flowers they just planted between the 2 patios!

Once I put the deposit in at LV it was easier picking out the dress. I could rule out the ones that were pretty, but that I knew I'd be DYING in outside in May.

(BTW, went to eat there last night to show my fam the location-it looks so beautiful out there! And they're relaying the bricks on the side of the path.)
  • I haven't actually been out there since April when I put the deposit down, now I want to go back and scope it out! It was raining the day we visited with Vicki so we only took a peek at the garden, I think I spent more time looking at other peoples wedding pictures online from there than actually looking in person! And yeah, you definitely did good picking a dress that you won't melt in, it looks very lightweight and flowy! I'm considering maybe a tea length dress, I saw this designer last night, dolly couture, that does sort of 50s style wedding dresses that I thought would be cute. I wish they had a store in TX though, its sort of scary to order a dress just from pictures.
