2 Dresses or Not?!!!

I need help...I am a girlie girl.  I love dresses.  I wear them everyday as soon as it gets warm.  About a month ago I bought my wedding dress.  I knew it was my dress because as soon as I tried it on I got that whole, 'say yes to the dress' bride feeling.  I didn't want to take it off when it was time to pay!  Not only that, even though I haven't lost the 10 lbs I've planned on losing I still felt beautiful in the sample size on the floor.

With that being said from the start of wedding planning I had it in my head that I would get 2 dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the reception.  When I bought my dress I felt so excited that I was going to wear that dress for my wedding.  At that time I didn't even think about my plans for another dress.  Now it's been a month and I keep watching Say Yes to the Dress and I'm starting to search the web for another dress! I love the way I felt and looked in the dress I bought but now that I've been a part from it I'm starting to question if I should just stick to that one or also get another.

Ugghh, if anyone has this problem or can shed some light let me know...I'll just be either online looking for another dress or staring at pics of me in my first dress trying to decide what to do!

Please Help!

  • If you love the dress that much then why get another one?  The ceremony will go by so quickly that you won't even get to enjoy the dress!  A few things to consider are: which dress will you take your photos in?  how long will it take you to switch dresses?  should you spend the money you've pegged for the 2nd dress on something else?

I personally plan to only have 1 dress and even after wearing it for the ceremony and reception I'm sure I won't want to take it off!

<div>You're right.  I do love that dress!  The thing is that my wedding is gonna last from 2pm-1am.  My photographer will be there the majority of the time so I will be taking pics in both dresses.  The thing about the money is that I was under budget for my first dress so I can afford another one.  I think I might go back to the store soon and try it on again just so I can really feel what I was feeling before.  Thank you for your advice!</div>

What are your reasons for wanting 2 dresses? Have you considered just getting some really great outfits for the other events (engagement photos, bridal showers, rehersal, etc)? I, like a lot of brides, am planning on wearing white for a lot of these -- I actually bought a wedding dress from a sample rack (it was a steal!) that I plan on wearing for the rehersal. It's not very traditional (read: short), but it will be perfect for those other occasions. Perhaps thinking about and shopping for those outfits will make you think less about a second gown for the day of? Just a thought!

<div>Ok that is the best idea!!!  I didn't even think about that!!!!  You are soooo right!  That is exactly what I'm going to do.  I am going to just focus attention on these other events and not on a second dress.  I've been thinking about wearing white for many of the festivities too!  And I love that you bought a special dress from a bridal store for your rehearsal.  I wanna do that!  You just saved me a few thousand dollars....Thank you!!!!!</div>

  • I dont really see a point in wearing two dresses at a wedding I never really got why girls change....hell we spend enough on the wedding dress might as well use it!  I agree with PP maybe spend a lil more on something for other parties that go along with the wedding.

I might be crazy but I will technically have three dresses.
DF and I are both professional dancers so our first dance is expected to be amazing, it's alot of presure but my wedding dress is way to puffy and big to do any real dancing in. I will be changing to do our first dance and then again to do one more dance with df (and I would l like some pictures in the dresses too!) But I do plan on changing back to my wedding dress as it is the most expensive of the three and the other dresses are costumy.

  • One dress for me.  I'm only going to wear that dress once, someone will have to pry it away from me at the end of the night!

Two pairs of shoes though.  Getting married in flip flops and will have a kick-ass pair of heels for dinner...and back to the flops when the booze kicks in lol.
