Oh no!!! Do you have a spot treatment? concealer is a must!

So we had our work event last night, which started at 5:30pm, and it was definitely something else....

The beers were a mishmash that were all from my boss' parents house. They were leftovers from the last two years of people leaving half 6 or 12 packs behind. We had 8 cases of wine! (only went through 2) and 7 water bottles, 5 frescas, 2 diet cokes and a rootbeer. FOR 60 PEOPLE. luckily I grabbed two cases of water on the way just in case.

Then the food... clam chowder, lobster rolls, 6 chicken salad rolls. That's it. FOR 60 PEOPLE.

I was embarrassed for them. Several of my customers came up to me asking me if there was more food.

Then, my boss' mom got tanked and grabbed a half empty bottle of red wine and proceeded to hop in her car and tried to take off but got caught on the curb and couldn't get the car off.
Horror show.

Get some OTC zit medicine and invest in some concealer from BareMinerals. That stuff is amazing! I get pretty bad acne around that time of the month and no one would ever know unless they see me without makeup. I swear by BareMinerals.

• mpickl - grrr, pimples are the devil! Hopefully you have an awesome spot treatment. Have a blast getting your e-pics done, whether your visitor still there or not!!!

JLP - wow. Just wow.

My vent is that FI pointedly ignored my advice over the past few weeks and got involved with something he would not be able to finish if he were switched to nights at work. I, ever the realist, advised him to plan for that eventuality. He didn't, possibility has become reality and he will be working nights starting next week, and he has no backup plan in place. He's angry with everyone because none of us can/will commit ourselves to do it, but there's really no one to blame but himself.

Which, of course, is not sinking in with him.

Ooh, I rarely wear makeup so I forgot about this but YES! The Multi-Tasking face is my favorite concealer and works wonders.

I can't wear the foundation though - turns my skin gray after a few hours (AA).

Edited: repped wrong product, I don't use their actual concealer.

• GAC: This place is a loony bin. It is family owned and run (not my family, thank god). They (the four owners) are all ragging alcoholics and my boss has her dealer drop off her supply monthly to the office. Most days I struggle to understand how we are so successful. I am the only person who regularly works 40 hours a week. I deal with screaming, tears, overshares, anger for no reason, stupid projects that have nothing to do with my actual work that always take precedence over my real work.
But hey, if they want to keep paying me ridiculous amounts of money and perks I will hang around for a bit longer. It is always entertaining.

• My flame is pretty much the same as a previous flame. Help with housework.

The future in-laws are coming in this evening and staying with us this weekend. Last night, after working my regular 12 hour day I pulled in the driveway at 8pm to my FI greeting me at the car saying he didn't fix dinner and for us to go out for dinner. Fine. When we got home about 9:30pm I went inside to realize that FI hadn't mowed the lawn, hadn't done any dishes, hadn't vacuumed, hadn't taken out the trash... all being things we discussed we needed to get done so that the house would be clean prior to his parents arriving today.

I came out of the bathroom to find FI laying relaxing in bed. So, I began cleaning. Furiously cleaning. FI got the idea and offered to do the dishes thankfully. But the point is that I just worked a 12 hour day to come home at 9:30pm at night to clean stuff that he could have done while I was at work instead of playing guitar or taking a nap.

A big talk is on the horizon. I just have to calm down and be honest with him. I only have about 9 more months of working two jobs, but until then I need more help. I can't do it alone.

{{dead}}

We had a supervisor here would would score coke on his morning mail delivery, come back and do it, then go to sleep in our company storage cage for a few hours. Until he pissed off one of his direct reports, who threw a bag of coke under his chair - and upper management found it. The bag itself wasn't his, but the dirty drug test that came back canned him anyway.

15 years ago I worked for a family owned business with craziness... not that crazy.. but pretty crazy. After work people didn't go home. They got cases of beer and would hang out and all drink together before they went home to their families. So weird.

My FI works for a company now that the Vice-Pres has a huge thing of moonshine in his bookshelf... and literally (I'm not kidding) called my FI into his office one day and asked him if he and other co-worker wanted to chip in for a monthly subcription to a porn site. I just shake my head at some of the stories he comes home telling.

Sometimes I hate my job but when I think of some of the craziness that happens places, I'm more appreciative of where I work.

• YIKES. I don't understand why (if it HAS to be done) it can't be done during personal time... after work.

goofy: Ugh you are describing my life. I need to have a talk with my FI about cleaning and chores. Good Luck! I hope he kicks his butt into gear!

Love: that stinks about the e-photos. Maybe the photog is taking more time editing yours? The weddings are a week apart so that shouldn't affect!!

Apparently it's a common problem. ;-) My biggest problem is that I'm 35 and was single long enough to be able to do everything on my own. I'm EXTREMELY independent. But working 55 hours a week is kicking my butt. It's very difficult for me to surrender and ask for more help.

• mpickl: That's awful! I hope you find something that works for you and have great e pictures!

Jlp818: Your work sounds very...entertaining. Thank goodness you got some extra water for those poor folks!

Tay and Goofy: Good luck with your FIs, mine never wants to clean, but he'll do it when one of us has a set of parents coming for a visit. He will get in way over his head with projects though. He says he likes to be helpful but it gets him SO stressed out.

I flame my oven...apparently hot things are hot. *sigh* I might've just burned myself creating mini taco salad shells.
• I will actually post it tomorrow. I am so frustrated about FI aunt right now who is again in the hospital for not following doctors orders and it is a LONG story that goes with it all...
